Haredas, born on the sky island Birka 97 years ago, became deeply involved in weather science at the age of fifteen. He played a role in constructing Weatheria, an artificial sky island, which was completed when he was 30. For the next several years, he documented global weather patterns.
About four years ago, Bartholomew Kuma visited Weatheria seeking a cure for Sapphire Scales but was unsuccessful.
Haredas is introduced when Nami ends up on Weatheria after the events at Sabaody Archipelago. He shows her around the island, teaches her about weather science, and helps her during a business transaction.
When Nami is imprisoned for stealing weather equipment, Haredas, moved by her story about Monkey D. Luffy and Ace's loss, releases her. Nami then kidnaps him to help her return to the Blue Seas. Despite initial skepticism, Haredas agrees to assist Nami. After learning about Luffy's actions at Marineford, Haredas scolds Nami for considering the Weather Ball as a weapon.
In appreciation for Weatheria's hospitality, Nami convinces Haredas to teach her about the New World's weather, with a reminder to avoid using weather-related abilities as weapons due to potential global consequences.
Haredas drops off Nami at Sabaody Archipelago. Later, when the Straw Hats are preparing to leave for Fish-Man Island, he and other Weatheria residents create rain over an area of Sabaody to sabotage the Marines' gunpowder, enabling the Straw Hats to leave without interference.
Watching events unfold through a telescope, Haredas encourages Nami, urging her to do her best. He mentions feeling lonely without her but doesn't complete his sentence.
After what happened in Dressrosa, Haredas and the other scientists changed into new clothes. They wanted to look good when they got to see Nami again.
Haredas is a cheerful and carefree guy. He often smiles and seems to have a good time. He can be forgetful and tends to repeat things he already said. Even when Nami hit him a lot (inappropriately), he stayed friendly and patient.
Haredas is an old man with a long, white beard and straight, long, white hair that reaches his back. He wears a blue pointed hat and a wizard-like robe that goes down to his feet. He's quite tall in the manga, but in the anime, he's short.
As a Weatheria scientist, Haredas knows a lot about weather science there. He uses this knowledge to control the weather effectively. He taught Nami how to manipulate the weather, showing off his expertise.
Haredas is patient and respectful towards Nami, even when she's not kind. He happily teaches her about Weatheria's science and expresses that the island will miss her when she leaves.
His fellow scientists also respect and care for him, showing concern when Nami takes him away.
In addition to the One Piece manga and its anime adaptation, Haredas also appears in the following games as a non-playable character:
One Piece Treasure Cruise
One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum
Haredas's name is a play on AMeDAS, where "ame" (雨?) means "rainy," and "hare" (晴れ?) means "sunny."
His appearance draws comparisons to popular depictions of Merlin, and notably, like Nami, who is often likened to a "witch," Haredas is reminiscent of a wizard.
Despite being a Birkan, Haredas lacks wings, a trait he shares with Enel.
Haredas has a penchant for tea sweets purchased from the Blue Sea.
