History

Past

Kokoro went to support Tom by leaving Fish-Man Island, and in Water 7, she met her husband. They were parents to a half-human, half-merfolk son. In addition to serving as Tom's secretary, Kokoro also took on a maternal role towards Iceburg and Franky, his two pupils. Tom's Workers received a visit from the Roger Pirates prior to Roger rising to the position of Pirate King. Kokoro watched the entire trial when Tom was brought in for building Gol D. Roger's ship.

Tom laughed about being given a chance when he was given a ten-year sentence to build the Sea Train. However, Kokoro had been alarmed by Tom's near-death experience and did not find it amusing. Kokoro and Tom went to Enies Lobby, where Kokoro took notes on some of the layouts for later. The judge was so impressed with Tom's work when the sentence was almost up that she decided to pardon him.

But Spandam's CP5 spoiled his decision by using the Battle Franky ships to attack the courtship, involving Tom's Workers. After Spandam and his operatives captured Tom, Iceburg, Franky, Kokoro, and Yokozuna were put on trial.

Tom gave his life to save Iceburg and Franky, claiming he was honored to assist Gol D. Roger and injure Spandam. The Judge made the decision to take only Tom and release his employees after tranquillizing him.

Kokoro gave Franky and Iceburg hugs and told them that prisoners never return from Enies Lobby. Kokoro became Iceberg's drinking partner after announcing Franky's death. She then started working as the Blue Station stationmaster for the Sea Train.

Kokoro grew into a heavy drinker who was frustrated with the World Government and still grieving over Tom's death. Her son later moved out, leaving Gonbe and Chimney in her care.

Water 7 Arc

When the Straw Hat Pirates showed up at the Sea Train station eight years later, they were greeted by Gonbe, Chimney, and a drunk Kokoro. After explaining the operation of the Sea Trains, Kokoro extended an invitation for them to take the route that leads to Pucci, San Faldo, or St. Poplar. Kokoro wrote a note to them saying that Iceburg should be able to assist them in repairing their ship, along with a scribbled map that was supposed to serve as a guide to Water 7.

When Franky was present at the bar where Blueno worked, she made a visit. Kokoro mentioned CP9, an organization that was meant to be kept under wraps, in a conversation with Franky. Later on in the evening, Gonbe, Chimney, and Kokoro strolled through the town while the Aqua Laguna approached the island.

Enies Lobby

Kokoro offered to assist the pirates after Nico Robin was taken into custody by CP9 and the Straw Hats decided to free her. The Franky Family, Paulie, Peeply Lulu, and Tilestone joined them. She moved the sea train, named Rocketman, onto the railway tracks. Kokoro saw Luffy and Zoro carve a massive opening in the wave for the sea train to pass through as the train approached a massive tidal wave.

As they eventually arrived at Enies Lobby, Luffy proceeded on his own. After beating Kashii, the Franky Family and the Galley-La foremen faced Oimo. Kokoro helped them by sending the Rocketman into the giant and taking him out. Kokoro became a witness of the battle when the train came to a stop in Enies Lobby.

Later on, she helped the Straw Hats and Rocketman enter the Tower of Justice. Chimney found the hidden passageway beneath the surface, and after Luffy took Lucci and Robin, she guided Kokoro and the pirates to it.

During Lucci's battle with Luffy, Kokoro transformed into a mermaid and saved the group by carrying them through a tunnel, out into the sea, and onto the government ship that Franky and Robin had taken over. With the other Straw Hats engaged in combat with the Marines, Kokoro, Chimney, and Gonbe kept an eye on a motionless Chopper.

The Marines had their warships destroy the ship after they found out the pirates were going to use it as a means of escape. By rescuing Gonbe, Chopper, Chimney, and Kokoro from the ship just in time, Sanji fortunately saved their lives. The Going Merry could be heard once the Marines had cornered the group.

In the end, they managed to escape Enies Lobby by plunging into the water and boarding the Going Merry. After leaving Enies Lobby behind, the group reunited with Iceburg and the Galley-La laborers. When the Going Merry broke down, Kokoro and the others went to its Viking funeral.

After that, Kokoro and the group went back to Water 7 and stayed at the Galley-La headquarters with the Straw Hats. Kokoro was shocked to discover that revolutionary Monkey D. Dragon is Luffy's father and Vice-Admiral Monkey D. Garp was Luffy's grandfather when Garp came to see Luffy. Later, Kokoro swam in the Galley-La pool while Nami listened in on Luffy and Koby's talk.

After that, she went to the big Straw Hats party. Kokoro informed the pirates that they would need to cross the Florian Triangle in order to get to Fish-Man Island, as indicated by the Straw Hats' Log Pose. After the completion of the Thousand Sunny by Franky, Iceburg, and the Galley-La laborers, Kokoro, Chimney, and Gonbe watched the Straw Hats embark on their next journey.

Where They Are Now

Kokoro was spotted having fun with Yokozuna at the Sea Train station alongside Chimney and Gonbe.

From the Decks of the World

Kokoro and Yokozuna went on a vacation after the timeskip. She was seen riding a shark and drinking sake. She also seemed to be celebrating the return of the Straw Hats by holding a newspaper.

Kokoro was seen grinning as she studied Franky’s wanted poster with Iceberg after it was made public.

Personality

Kokoro is a heavy drinker, and when she's drunk, she has a slight speech impediment that lends her dialogue a unique ring. On the other hand, Kokoro's voice is soft and pleasant when she is sober. Even though she occasionally loses her temper, she usually manages it and manages to stay cheerful despite whatever happens, maintaining an oddly calm and relaxed demeanor.

Luffy eventually gained her affection, and she started referring to him as the Pirate King. Because of how fascinating the events at Enies Lobby got, she is quite interested in him. She concluded that Tom would have built him a ship, just as he had built one for Gol D. Roger, if he were still with us.

Appearance

Kokoro gives an appearance that she is always smiling, even when she is not. She has an odd smile and an overweight physique that give her a frog-like appearance. Her legs are actually a fishtail that has been split in two, making her an icefish mermaid.

She was more beautiful as a young girl, similar to a typical mermaid. After Tom was put in jail and Cutty Flam seemed to have passed away, she became depressed and became addicted to binge drinking.

Kokoro’s abilities, strengths, and fighting style

Kokoro is a skilled Sea Train Conductor who has operated these kinds of cars before. Actually, it was with her help that the Franky Family, Galley-La Foremen, and the Straw Hats were able to use the Rocketman to pursue the Puffing Tom and eventually arrive at Enies Lobby.

Kokoro was a mermaid who used a long cloth to drag the Straw Hats, her granddaughter, and Gonbe along while speaking with amphibious animals and swimming at very fast speeds.

The fact that Tom and Iceburg both love curry and ramen, respectively, indicates that she is a qualified chef, or at the very least, knows how to make them. Kokoro possesses physical strength despite her advanced age and plump body.

She only showed off the Mermaid Kick attack, in which she uses her fishtail-like leg to kick an opponent hard enough to launch a Marine into the air.
