Komachiyo lived with Tama's family when it was a pup. After Tama was orphaned, Komachiyo remained by her side, even though Tama faced difficulties in providing food for both of them. Komachiyo was present when Tama met Tenguyama Hitetsu, who then took them under his protection.
When Tama was attacked by two Beasts Pirates sentries, Komachiyo fought a baboon guard to protect her. The battle ended when Tama tamed the baboon, and Komachiyo, along with Hihimaru, accompanied Tama and Monkey D. Luffy to see Tama's master, Tenguyama Hitetsu. Later, during a confrontation with Basil Hawkins and his men, Komachiyo carried Luffy, Tama, Zoro, and Tsuru to Okobore Town.
In Okobore Town, Komachiyo was delighted when Tsuru healed Tama. However, when Tama was abducted by Gazelleman, Komachiyo joined the pursuit along with Kiku, Luffy, and Zoro, heading for Bakura Town. After various encounters, including a sumo wrestling tournament and the defeat of Holed'em, they brought the food cart to Okobore Town. Eventually, Komachiyo took Luffy's group to the ruins of Kozuki Oden's castle, where they learned about Wano's past from Kin'emon.
When Kaido suddenly arrived at Kuri, the group at Oden Castle tried to escape, but Kaido destroyed the castle with a breath attack. Komachiyo and the others were saved by Shinobu's jutsu, sinking into the ground. Later, Komachiyo returned to Tama's home, where she received treatment after being attacked by Kaido.
During the Fire Festival, Komachiyo, along with Tama and Hihimaru, went to Onigashima. They arrived in time to rescue Nami and Usopp from Ulti and Page One. Komachiyo fled with Tama, Nami, and Usopp, while Hihimaru stayed behind to stall Ulti and Page One. On their way to the Live Stage, they encountered Big Mom and Page One. Komachiyo was briefly attacked by Page One, but Big Mom intervened, allowing Komachiyo to escape.
Later, during a confrontation with Ulti, Komachiyo was repeatedly kicked unconscious. Hamlet carried the unconscious Komachiyo away from the fires. After the raid on Onigashima, Komachiyo participated in the celebration of Wano, carrying Tama on his back.
Komachiyo is a loyal and protective creature, fiercely guarding Kurozumi Tama and serving as her rider. It chased after threats like the Beasts Pirates' baboon and Gazelleman to rescue Tama. Komachiyo deeply cares for Tama, showing relief when she recovers from illness. Additionally, it allows people, like Tsuru, to hide inside its tail without any issues.
Komachiyo is a large four-legged creature, significantly bigger than a normal-sized human, resembling a lion, dog, and pig as a komainu. Its fur is flame-shaped, and it has two short horns on its head. In its pup stage, Komachiyo had less hair and was about the size of Tama.
Due to its large size, Komachiyo can easily serve as a steed for multiple riders simultaneously. It uses its mouth for biting attacks or to pick up others. Komachiyo is strong enough to fight on par with a highly prized baboon from the Beasts Pirates, injuring it. It can recover without noticeable injuries, even after being sent flying into the Thousand Sunny.
Komachiyo was a loyal pet to Tama from a young age, accompanying her after her parents' death. It is protective of Tama, chasing after the Beast Pirates to save her.
Komachiyo and Hihimaru initially clashed when Komachiyo attacked to protect Tama. However, after Hihimaru ate a dango offered by Tama, they became friends.
