Forty-one years ago, Koyama was kidnapped by three men who planned to claim a bounty in the Flower Capital. Along the way, they stopped at a teahouse where a waitress named Tsuru overheard their conversation.
Kin'emon, a thug at the time, ambushed the men and stole Koyama from them. In the Flower Capital, Kin'emon encountered Denjiro and showed him the piglet. Denjiro warned Kin'emon about the Mountain God, the parent of Koyama, known for its ruthlessness in pursuing its kidnapped child.
As the Mountain God approached, Koyama's kidnapper warned Kin'emon about the creature eating his friends and Tsuru. In the chaos, Kin'emon dropped Koyama and fled to confront the Mountain God.
However, Kozuki Oden appeared and defeated the creature by slicing it. After this incident, Koyama and its parent became friends with Oden and his retainers, receiving names from them.
Thirty years ago, during a procession in the Flower Capital, Oden used a palanquin strapped to Koyama's back to carry him through the city. The current status of Koyama and its parent is unknown.
We don't know much about Koyama's personality, but it seemed generally anxious and uncomfortable as it changed hands between different people after being kidnapped.
Koyama is a young boar with white fur. When it first appeared, Koyama was a small piglet with round eyes and two short tusks. Eleven years later, it has grown larger than an average human.
Koyama does not possess any remarkable abilities. However, when it grew older, it became strong enough to lift a palanquin with Kozuki Oden inside, who was larger than an average human.
After being captured, Koyama called to its parent for help. The Mountain God came to rescue its piglet, attacking and eating humans in the process.
Initially treated poorly by Kozuki Oden and Kin'emon, Koyama and its parent eventually befriend Oden and his retainers. They are given names and even assist Oden with his procession.
Koyama means "hill" or "small mountain" in Japanese. It got this name because it's smaller than its parent, which is named Yama, meaning "mountain."
