Name | Lapahn |
Origin | Drum Island |
When Monkey D. Luffy and Sanji were transporting a sick Nami to Drum Castle they came upon a pack of Lapahn that had a very aggressive cub. The rest of the pack, led by the cub's parent, moved quickly and brutally to attack after Sanji kicked the cub out of the way. The Straw Hats dodged their attacks and did not fight back as they were scared of hurting Nami. The pack of Lapahn then started a massive avalanche to stop them.
Luffy was able to jump clear of the avalanche and later dug both Sanji and the pack leader out of the ground. Luffy gained the respect of the entire pack by doing this, and they quickly returned the favor by stopping Wapol and his followers long enough for Luffy to concentrate on getting to Drum Castle.
Even though Wapol eventually used his Devil Fruit powers to overwhelm the pack, some of them recovered in time to see the "sakura" that Dr. Kureha released to see off Tony Tony Chopper and the other Straw Hats.
The residents of Drum made peace with the Lapahn and began welcoming them into Dalton's newly formed Sakura Kingdom at some point after the Straw Hats left. Some of the Lapahn eventually became members of the kingdom militia; one of them escorted Dalton and Kureha at the Levely.
Lapahn, are highly aggressive pack hunters and are the most dangerous animals on Drum Island because they will attack humans without hesitation.
The Lapahn are big, intelligent, carnivorous snow rabbits that are native to Drum Island's mountains. They prefer plantigrade, and bipedal motion, and seem to have nonretractable claws.
Lapahn has powerful teeth, claws, and general size, but they are also very agile, which helps them maintain a good balance and momentum in Drum's snowy environment. In order to avoid more dangerous prey, they can also cause avalanches by hopping together, which disrupts the earth, as they can easily surf the rushing snow on top of tree trunks.
