Momoo in One Piece

Momoo, the first Sea Beast that was introduced in the series, is a massive sea cow from the Grand Line. He fits into the category of a Type A, "Big Friendly" creature. He was first used as an instrument of threat by the Arlong Pirates against the people who lived in the Conomi Islands. After his defeat, the Caribou Pirates took Momoo and used him as a draught animal.

History

Past

Arlong and his crew are said to have found Momoo somewhere along the Grand Line, though details are still unknown. Momoo was kept in a small underwater cave close to Arlong Park during the Arlong Pirates' rule over the Conomi Islands, and his primary carer was Hatchan, who could call upon him with a loud, trumpet-like call.

Momoo was often left on his own, but on occasion, the Arlong Pirates needed an extra officer, so they called him in. Particularly, he took part in their attack on Gosa Village, which resulted in its total levelling and numerous deep cuts.

Arlong Park Arc

Momoo met Monkey D. Luffy, Sanji, and Yosaku a few weeks after the attack on Gosa. Momoo had followed the scent of cooking smoke to their ship. Though his unexpected arrival shocked Yosaku, Luffy was merely irritated and punched him right away for interfering with their meal. Next, seeing Momoo starving, Sanji gave in to his hunger and gave up some of their food, only to beat Momoo even harder when she tried to eat him.

Momoo was forced to tow them to Arlong Park while being shackled to their ship, preventing him from making an escape. Even though he travelled fast overall, Momoo lost energy in the last portion of the trip and turned off in the direction of Cocoyasi Village. The Straw Hats' ship was violently thrown into the woods outside Cocoyasi by Momoo, who crashed headfirst into the coastline before he could be shifted making himself unconscious.

Hatchan called Momoo to defend the Arlong Pirates later in the day when the Straw Hats launched an all-out attack on Arlong Park. The injured Momoo tried to run away as soon as he saw Luffy and Sanji, but Arlong stopped him. With sheer force of personality, Arlong overcame his fear and made him attack.

This was a pointless attack because Luffy easily defeated Momoo once more and viciously threw him around, using him to smash the majority of Arlong's forces before throwing him all the way across Arlong Park. Momoo did not appear again for the rest of the fight, and it seemed that he was forgotten by his own crew as well as the Straw Hats. It is unclear if he had any reaction to Arlong's defeat.

Fishman Island Arc

Momoo wandered out of the East Blue and into the waters around the Sabaody Archipelago sometime after Arlong Park fell. He was taken prisoner by the Caribou Pirates and he served as their advanced marine navigator. They would hook him to the front of the ship and let him pull them by putting a collar around his neck.

Momoo later identified Nami, Sanji, and Luffy after moving the Caribou Pirates' ship near the Thousand Sunny. He was so scared that he swam away, taking the ship with him, and left Caribou to the Straw Hat Pirates on the Thousand Sunny.

Afterwards, Momoo came back with a lump on his head, racing back to Caribou's ship. Momoo later broke free from the Caribou Pirates' hold and swam away when the Kraken destroyed the ship.

Personality

Momoo is a very simple-minded creature who focuses most of his waking hours on eating or following orders from people he recognizes as superiors. He is a powerful and enormous carnivore that will devour any human that comes near him. But he is easily intimidated by people he cannot defeat.

Appearance

Momoo is a massive sea cow that stands 36 meters tall and weighs 16 tonnes. Its body shape looks like that of a seal. Momoo is categorized as a mammal Sea Beast even though his entire body, from his neck to his stomach, is covered in scales similar to fish. His hardened skin, or scales, acts as armor, shielding his vital organs from outside threats.

He has horns, a cow-like face, a large, round nose with a gold nose ring, and green spots all over his body. Not only do his fins help with swimming, but they also have retractable bones that can be used as claws.

Momoo’s abilities, strengths, and fighting style

As seen in Gosa Village, Momoo possesses the strength to completely destroy a village. Momoo is strong enough to bring down ships in his search for food. Because of his keen sense of smell, he can lurk on the ocean floor and quickly surface to attack his target before they have a chance to defend themselves.

His enormous fins allow him to swim up to 70 km/h. His body's hardened skin acts as armour, shielding him from dangers from the outside. Moreover, Momoo can swallow his victim whole. His four stomachs are full of different bacteria and parasites that actively break down his food. Thus, even if Momoo eats an extremely poisonous animal, he won't get hurt.
