Less that 62 years ago, Nuts Island became a part of the Big Mom Pirates, commonly known as “Totto Land,” and was given its current appearance by Charlotte Linlin and Streusen’s Devil Fruit powers (the Soru Soru no Mi and Kuku Kuku no Mi respectively).
At some point, Charlotte Amande was chosen to serve as the minister in charge of this island.
The island was briefly shown on the day of Sanji’s and Pudding’s wedding, when the people in town were excited, and talked about who they would invite to their Queen’s Tea Party.
After the Thousand Sunny’s escape, Big Mom rampaged on the island while she was suffering with hunger pangs. Ignoring Perospero’s requests, Amande, the minister of the island, tried to talk Big Mom out of burning the place. At the same time, Luffy and Brûlée landed on the island using the Mirro-World during the chaos. When Perospero and Amande saw Luffy holding on to Brûlée, they tried to free her while Big Mom chased after them and demanded the wedding cake.
After Big Mom’s rampage ended, and Luffy escaped the Totto Land’s territory with the rest of his crew, the island was left in ruins. The citizens began to wonder about their way of life under Big Mom’s protection as Amande and the people of the island recovered.
Most of the buildings of this island resemble the shape of peanuts. The tallest buildings here can be clearly seen like a giant shell of the peanut standing tall.
A city called Peanuts Town is located on Nuts Island, and its architecture has a peanuts theme. Also, residents wear headgear that match the island’s concept.
The peanut structure with a top hat may be a reference to Mr. Peanut, the mascot of the Planters snack-food company best known for its processed nuts.
