Stansen was a child on Elbaph sixty-three years ago, watching Hajrudin train to be a warrior. He then left Elbaph and turned into a pirate. Stansen was sleeping with his guard down when he was taken by the Coffee Monkeys organization at an undisclosed location at some point.
The Coffee Monkeys eventually had to endure Stansen's transportation to the Human Auction House in the Sabaody Archipelago. He was given a bomb collar and put in jail there before waiting with Rayleigh to be sold as a slave at the next slave sale. Later, Stansen and other slaves fled the auction house after Rayleigh helped them remove their bomb collars. He was thankful that Rayleigh and the Straw Hats had freed them.
After being set free, Hajrudin enlisted the help of Stansen and three other giants to revive the Giant Warrior Pirates. The crew was hired as mercenaries by Buggy's Delivery, a pirate dispatch company. Throughout their duty, the crew achieved the status of S-Class soldiers and rose to the top five earners in the organization.
Before sailing into the sea aboard the Naglfar as part of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, Hajrudin promised his crew's loyalty to the Straw Hat Pirates. When he returned to Karai Bari Island, the New Giant Warrior Pirates notified Mohji of their withdrawal from the Pirate Dispatch Organization.
To provide the Straw Hat Pirates with meat when they arrived, Stansen and Hajrudin descended to Elbaph's Underworld and hunted down a gigantic moose. They had to carry the moose's body over their heads since their painter refused to work in the snow. Stansen and Hajrudin met several of the Straw Hats and the original Giant Warrior Pirates on their way back to the Sun World. They talked about the moose they had hunted for Luffy and his crew. The two soon returned to the Western Village, where they were able to rendezvous with Luffy and the rest of their crew.
Stansen thanked Rayleigh for helping him and the other slaves escape, displaying his honourable giant as fits an Elbaph warrior. After their collars were taken off, he also volunteered to help the other slaves in fleeing the island. He maintained his composure and sociability while in captivity. He seemed happy when he was younger, sitting and munching snacks while watching Hajrudin practice with Raideen.
Stansen is significantly bigger than a human being because he is a giant. Although he has powerful arms, a thin mustache, a black beard, and a crescent scar beneath his right eye, he is somewhat portly.
He has a leather wristband on each arm, pants, and a hat with flaps on the sides. Stansen's moustache and beard became thicker two years following his release. He's dressed in yellow loose pants, a brown fur cape with skulls on the shoulders, a heavy spotted black belt with a skull clasp, and a blue open fur vest. Additionally, he wears a Viking helmet.
When he was still a child on Elbaph, he wore a similar uniform, but one that was smaller than average for his age, plus a sword buckled to his back and a vest made of light-coloured fur.
Stansen has exceptional physical strength because of his size. With little effort, using just his bare hands, he managed to smash through the auction house's walls. His captors pointed out that it would be impossible to take him in any other way, therefore, the only reason he was taken into slavery was because he fell asleep and let his guard down.
He was a S Class member of the Buggy Pirate Dispatch Society, which Buggy recognized as having the best soldiers, along with his fellow New Giant Warrior Pirates members. He is also the shipwright of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, taking care of and repairing the crew's ship.
Although it's unclear if he can use it himself, he also knows about Haki because he was aware that Rayleigh was the one who used it to knock out Disco. Stansen had a sword attached to his back when he was younger. He has a gigantic hammer since he is a member of the New Giant Warrior Pirates.
