Surume in One Piece

Hody Jones forcefully brought the Surume from the North Pole to Fish-Man Island, holding its family hostage to make it obey. Surume guarded the Downward Plume, attacking any passing ships.

Fish-Man Island Saga

Fish-Man Island Arc:

As the Straw Hat Pirates approached Fish-Man Island, they encountered a massive Surume blocking the entrance of the Downward Plume. The creature had been hiding there, feeding on passing pirate ships for days. The Surume tentacles held crushed ships, showcasing their destructive power.

Undeterred by the danger, Luffy expressed excitement about wanting to "tame the little guy." This surprised Caribou and the other Caribou Pirates, who arrived but had their ship destroyed by the Surume. To protect the Thousand Sunny, Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro used special bubbles to fight the Surume without breaking the ship's protective coating.

Surume attempted to crush the Thousand Sunny twice, but Franky's "Franky Rocket Launcher" and Chopper's improved "Guard Point" saved the ship. Sanji used Diable Jambe to burn one of the Surume's tentacles, and Zoro severed another with his three-sword style. Fueled by his desire to tame the Surume, Luffy unleashed Gear 3 and imbued the attack with Busoshoku Haki. Despite Luffy's weakened state from seawater, the powerful attack knocked out the Surume.

As a result, the Surume released Megalo, whom it had swallowed earlier. The Downward Plume then carried the trio and the Surume into the deep sea. Later, when the Straw Hat Pirates faced an attack from Vander Decken IX and the Flying Dutchman, Surume came to their rescue.

He saves the Thousand Sunny's protective bubble from bursting. The Monster Trio, consisting of Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro, had successfully befriended him, and Luffy even named it Surume.

However, their moment of peace was short-lived as an undersea volcano erupted. In the chaos that ensued, Surume, following Luffy's command, leaped into a ravine to escape the erupting volcano. Unfortunately, a rockslide chased them, and although Usopp's Pop Greens saved the crew, Surume got knocked out by a stray boulder.

When Surume woke up, they discovered they were very close to Fish-Man Island. Suddenly, the crew was surrounded by massive Sea Beasts, each as large as Surume. Faced with this threat, Surume, now showing fear of the New Fish-Man Pirates, dropped the Thousand Sunny and hid.

The Straw Hat Pirates were eventually launched into Fish-Man Island, surrounded by sea beasts, with Surume observing from a distance. Together with other sea creatures, Surume played a role in the assault on Fish-Man Island, draping its tentacles along a building behind Gyoncorde Plaza and waiting for Neptune's execution.

When the Straw Hat Pirates reached Fish-Man Island, they faced an attack from the New Fish-Man Pirates led by Hody Jones. Hody commanded Surume, reminding the Surume that he had been its master since being taken from the North Pole. Luffy intervened and reminded him of their friendship. Luffy's interaction with Surume angered Hody.

Luffy then assigned Surume to guard Shirahoshi, the mermaid princess. However, Hody resorted to blackmail, threatening Surume's family in the North Pole. Under this pressure, Surume began squeezing Shirahoshi. Luffy stepped in, assuring Surume that he would protect its family. As a result, Surume stopped harming Shirahoshi.

Later, when the massive ship Noah approached, Shirahoshi left Surume's protection to divert Noah away from Fish-Man Island. During this chaos, Wadatsumi fell out of Noah, distressed over Vander Decken IX's betrayal. Surume, in response, attacked Wadatsumi. However, Zeo tricked Wadatsumi into consuming an Energy Steroid, allowing him to knock out Surume with a single punch.

After the battle for Fish-Man Island concluded, Surume recovered near the Thousand Sunny. When Wadatsumi, too large for Fish-Man Island's prisons, was banished, Surume was tasked with carrying him to the far ends of the ocean.

Dressrosa Saga - Solo Journey of Jinbe, Knight of the Sea:

At some time, Surume separated from Wadatsumi, the giant fish-man, as Wadatsumi was alone when encountering Jinbe.

From the Decks of the World: The 500,000,000 Man Arc:

During this saga, Surume happily waved after a group of News Coos delivered news about Luffy's recent adventures to the world. Surume held a wrecked ship in his tentacle, and a smile adorned his face.

Surume, the big kraken, is a clever sea creature. When the Straw Hat Pirates first met him, they noticed crushed ships in his tentacles, showing he liked to snack on pirate ships. Despite being smart, Surume can be playful, like putting the Thousand Sunny on his head after Luffy tamed him. He even understands human language, which is pretty cool!

Surume doesn't like the New Fish-Man Pirates because they took him from his home and threatened his family. But he trusts Luffy and helps him fight against his old masters. Surume is caring and conflicted when he has to go against Luffy because of the New Fish-Man Pirates' threats. Even though some think he's super strong but not very smart, it's clear he's more than meets the eye, especially when understanding and trusting his friends.

Surume is a huge orange octopus with eighteen tentacles, which is more than what normal octopuses have. He has white color suckers and huge teeth, which is seen when he is happy.

Surume, the massive kraken, is a sea giant with super strength. Its big tentacles can easily crush ships, and it can take a lot of hits without getting hurt. He follows Luffy's lead, showing he trusts and likes him. Surume is also good at moving underwater, making it a handy friend for the Straw Hat crew during their ocean travels.
