Summary of the Episode

Arlong forces Luffy into a room on the top floor of Arlong Park after viciously attacking him with his Kiribachi as the two continue their battle. Luffy comments on the strange nature of the room and how it is filled with paper. Arlong informs him that those aren't just ordinary papers, but that the room was where Nami drew her maps. Arlong praises Nami's abilities and claims that they are friends. Dismissively, Luffy replies that Nami is their Navigator. Arlong complains that Luffy is squandering Nami's potential as the argument rages on.

In the midst of the battle, Luffy spots a bloody pen. He grabs the pen fiercely, thinking that Nami must have been mistreated while being made to draw maps for Arlong. Arlong, who is unaware of Luffy's mounting rage, argues that Nami would keep creating maps for his ambitions to rule the world. Arlong claims that the fish-men would exploit her better than Luffy ever will. When Arlong uses the word "use," Luffy explodes in anger and uses all of his might to smash Arlong's Kiribachi tooth. Outside of Arlong Park, the villagers are concerned about Luffy, as they are unable to witness the combat in the map room.

Arlong reassures Luffy once more that Nami receives everything she desires when she is with the fish-men and that she will always be his tool, or rather, his friend. Luffy is enraged as Arlong refers to Nami as a mere tool and launches an attack to destroy the map room completely. Nami, from the foot of the tower, watches as the room is destroyed and its contents spilled out into the wind. She recalls the dreadful experiences she had in that room, where she had been humiliated, abused, and forced to do labor work for the pirates who she detested. She whispers her gratitude to Luffy while crying.

Arlong, infuriated, makes an effort to prevent Luffy from destroying the maps and his ambitions along with them. While fighting Arlong, Luffy continues to destroy the room adamantly declaring that he must aid Nami by eliminating the memory of the room that had brought her such pain. Arlong is rendered unconscious by Luffy's last Gomu Gomu No Ono while Arlong Park is entirely destroyed by the impact. The villagers wonder who won the battle after seeing Arlong Park destroyed. As he emerges from the rubble, Luffy screams loudly, is Nami my Friend? Nami responds forcefully, fighting back tears, "Yes!" The villagers finally realize that Arlong Park has been overthrown and the dictator of Cocoyasi Village has been removed from power.

Nezumi shows up in the midst of the Straw Hats' emotional celebration and reunion. The Marine tries to take Arlong's reward and wealth while mocking the Fish-Men for falling victim to "silly pirates," but is quickly overpowered by Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji. Along with Nezumi, Nami beats him up for what he did to Nojiko and the tangerine farm. Nami insists that Nezumi tidy up the mess left by the fish-men, rebuild Gosa Village, give her money back and share Arlong's wealth among the people. Nezumi consents to everything since he is at the whim of the Straw Hats and the outraged villagers. The Marine declares that he would make Luffy regret interfering with him and vows that Luffy will "become huge" for doing so after retreating to a safe distance.

While wondering how Nezumi knew Luffy would become the King of the Pirates, Luffy agrees with him. Usopp worries frantically about what would happen if they attracted attention as Zoro attempts to correct Luffy. As soon as word of Arlong Park's demise gets out, happiness and celebrations are sparked all across the island. Genzo considers how ironic it is that the village's saviors are also pirates. He recalls Nami joining the Arlong pirates and the villagers' resolute will to fight Arlong together, which brings back memories of Arlong's tyrannical rule. Nako further adds that Bell mère's soul can now finally rest peacefully and ascend to heaven. Shortly later, Nezumi calls the Marine Headquarters and reports Luffy and his friends. He demands that a large bounty be placed on Luffy's head, greatly emphasizing their viciousness and cautioning the Marines that they should not take them lightly.
