Who has the highest bounty in One Piece?

Gol D. Roger was born in the East Blue's Loguetown. He was very scared of losing the ones he loves as he had grown up under extremely difficult times. As a young adult, he met Rayleigh and was quite impressed by the ship he had stolen and now called his home. Roger treated their meeting as fate and asked him to join him and turn the world upside down but Rayleigh refused. However, he eventually gave in to Roger’s pestering and they became inseparable since then.

Together they created the Roger pirates with Roger as the captain of the crew while Rayleigh was his first mate. At some point, the crew visited Water 7 and hired a master shipwright named Tom and asked him to build a new ship for them. Tom used the wood from the Legendary Tree Adam. The ship that Tom had made became Rogers's most famed and with that he and his crew sailed into the new world.

When they reached Lodestar Island, which was the final Island that the log post had directed them to, Roger was insistent that this wasn’t the end and that there were more Islands beyond this point. He was proved right when he read the Road Poneglyphs which give out clues about their locations.

Sadly soon enough Roger was diagnosed with an incurable disease. As his last wish, he told his crew that they should travel the Grand Line and reach the last Island. Crocus, his doctor did his very best to keep him alive until the completion of his dream.

Throughout their Saga to Skypiea, Fishman Island, and Wano city, Roger's conditions started to deteriorate more and Crocus said that he didn't have a lot of time to live. Due to these complications, the Roger Pirates decided to rush through their quest. As they had information from the Road Poneglyphs, the Roger Pirates finally made it to the last island.

Along the way they learned and found out a lot about various things like the Void Century, Ancient Weapons, and the Will of D. They even got their hands on Joy Boy's treasure, when they found it they laughed about it and thus led them to name the last island as 'Laugh Tale.'

The news of Roger finding Laugh Tale spread like wildfire and he was named the Pirate King. As a result of this, the marines began to target the Roger Pirates and wanted to eliminate them. Later on, Roger decided to disband the Roger Pirates but before leaving he told Rayleigh that he 'would not die' and took some medicine from Crocus and finally parted ways with his crew.

After disbanding his crew, Roger went to meet up with Whitebeard and told him about the Will of D. He even offered to reveal the way that he can get to Laugh Tale but Whitebeard refused and said that he wasn't interested. Later on, he met a woman named Portgas D. Rouge and fell in love with her.

They had a child together and decided to name him Portgas D. Ace. Roger knew that he would be long dead before the child would be born so he left Rouge to take care of the child and turned himself into the marines. While he was in prison, he told Monkey D. Garp to take care of his son and that he shouldn't be named a criminal because of his family.

To prevent others the becoming pirates, Gol D. Roger was brought back to Loguetown (his birthplace) by the mariner to execute him in front of the public. Just before dying, Roger screamed his last words which were “My treasure? If you want it, I'll grant it! Search on! All the world had to offer, I left in that place!”. Immediately after saying those words, the executioner executed him. Thus the greatest pirate of them all had died.

Only a few people could match up to Roger in battle. Monkey D. Garp claimed that he was on par when it came to strength with him and eventually surrendered in battle to him. The same goes with his fight with Whitebeard who is known to have the strongest Devil Fruit and Roger was known to fight on equal grounds with Shiki too.

Only Rocks D. Xebec was one person who was Roger's most formidable rival and it took joint efforts between Roger and Garp to defeat him. Even mighty warriors like Kozuki Oden said that Roger had immense physical prowess. He also had huge levels of endurance and vitality which can be seen after he was diagnosed with his incurable disease.

He was skilled in the art of Swordsmanship and his weapon of choice was a cutlass and he is seen to keep it till the end of his Pirate journey. He was also seen wielding a flintlock pistol as well.

Some of Gol D. Roger's special abilities were:

Haki

Roger was one of the few people who could use all three types of haki. He knew how to use the Hoashoku Haki, which allows the users to exert their will power on to others. He was one of the persons to be known to infuse his power with the Hoashoku Haki to increase his attack power.

He can also use the Busoshoku Haki, which allows users to use their spiritual energy to create an invisible Armour around themselves to give them offensive and defensive capabilities. He could imbue his sabre with haki and use it very well. He could even emit it out of his blade which allowed him to attack his opponents without physically making contact with them.

Lastly, Roger even possessed the Kenbunshoku Haki, which allows the users to to use the sixth sense to sense the presence, strength and emotions of others. It even gave the user prerogative abilities.

Voice of all things

Roger had the ability to 'hear voices of all things' which helped him find the Poneglyphs but he wasn't like the Ohara scholars who could study the Poneglyphs so he couldn't read them.
