Penguin in One Piece

Past

Penguin and Shachi used to live on Swallow Island. They were orphans, as their parents were killed in a tsunami. They lived with their aunt and uncle who treated them like slaves and made them do illegal things. After bearing it for a long time, Penguin ran away from them and started to live in a shack in the forest. In the forest, he and Shachi met Bepo and started bullying a young mink. Shachi and Penguin picked a fight with Law but he defeated them easily.

Later on, when they were trying to run away from a boar, Penguin threw a bomb, but it exploded before he could throw it and it cost him his right arm. Law and Bepo then took him to Wolf’s farm and Law treated Penguin’s arm. Penguin recovered and he thanked Law. After he recuperated, Law told Penguin and Shachi to join him, thus leading to the formation of the Heart Pirates.

Sabaody Archipelago Arc

During the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, Penguin accompanied Law to the Human Auctioning House to see the auction. After Monkey D. Luffy interrupted the auction, the Heart Pirates were also seen fighting for their escape along with the Euastass Kid’s crew. During that time, Penguin fought against the Pacifista and though the battle was not seen, Penguin managed to escape successfully with the crew.

Marineford Arc

During the Marineford Arc, Penguin was in Sabaody along with the rest of his crew and they were all watching the broadcast of Ace’s execution. They left Sabaody after the broadcast was cut short and sailed toward Marineford. The crew took in an injured Luffy and Jinbe to treat them and they managed to escape as Shanks had arrived on the scene to stop the war. After Law treated Luffy, Penguin was shocked to see Rayleigh defeat a Sea King and know his story. When they were leaving, Penguin was sad that he did not get to explore more.

While at sea, Law told his crew that they would not be entering the New World right away and Penguin was concerned as Blackbeard and his crew were causing a lot of trouble. Law told him that he wants to stay away from this kind of fighting and told the crew to follow his orders for the best possible result and Penguin and the rest of the crew cheered for him.

Zou Arc

When the Heart Pirates were reacquainted with Law again, they were tremendously happy to reunite with him. After the Straw Hats returned to the Whale Forest, the Heart Pirates greeted Luffy and then they all partied with Nekomamushi and his people.

Wano Country Arc

During the Wano Country Arc, Penguin and Bepo saw Luffy and Zoro entering Bakura Town and told Law about this. Later on, Penguin was sitting out while Kin’emon told Luffy about Wano’s past. He followed them when Law rushed with them to go to Kaido. As Kaido attacked them, Penguin and some people were saved by Shinobu and then Penguin went to deliver Kin’emon’s message to his allies. Later on, Penguin and Bepo got captured by the Beast Pirates and were used as bait to lure out Law. When Law arrived, he made a deal with them saying that Penguin and Bepo were to be freed in exchange for him and told his men to not tell Luffy anything about this.

After leaving, Bepo and Penguin started to plan a way to rescue Law. They thought of rescuing him just before the raid on Onigashima. While everyone was taking down the guards at Torii gates and avoiding the whirlpools, the Heart Pirates brought their submarine close enough to the surface which allowed Law to teleport himself, Bepo, Shachi, Penguin, and the Scabbards to Onigashima’s back entrance. Later on, Penguin was seen inside fighting against the members of the Beast Pirates, joined forces with their allies, and acted as reinforcements for them.

After the raid on Onigaashima, the Heart Pirates enjoyed the Flower Capital festival and celebrated the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance’s victory.

Egghead Arc

While they were on their way to an island, the Heart Pirates were ambushed by the Blackbeard Pirates who were searching for Road Poneglyphs. This attack damaged their ship and the crew got affected by Feminization Disease. Penguin turned into a woman too. After Law’s haki canceled it out, he made antibodies and cured his infected crew. They then reached Winner Island and they prepared to face the Blackbeard Pirates. Even though the Heart Pirates were defeated, it was only Law and Bepo who managed to escape and Penguin’s current status is unknown.

Penguin is really fond of women, just like Shachi. He is very loyal to his captain, Law. As a child, he used to be a bully and picked fights a lot, and mocked others too.

Penguin is your average size lean man. He wore beige overalls with the Heart Pirates’ Jolly Roger displayed on the back and chest with brown boots. He wore a black cap which had a yellow brim with a red pompom on top with his name on the front. During the Wano Arc, he is seen wearing a light blue Yukata with the Heart Pirates’ Jolly Roger on both sides of his chest. He is also seen carrying a sword.

Penguin is an exceptional swimmer. He has a really strong will as he was also able to resist the haki that Silvers Rayleigh had released in the Human Auction House. He is also proficient in the art of martial arts.

Weapons

Penguin is seen using a spear and also a katana at various occasions.

There is one major fight between Penguin and Trafalgar D. Law but it is not seen in the anime or the manga.
