As of October 2022, Marshall D. Teach, popularly known as Blackbeard, is not dead. Although many have tried, none have succeeded in eliminating Blackbeard. Blackbeard is the commodore of the Blackbeard Pirates and is one of the Four Emperors of the Sea in the New World.

Marshall D. Teach is one of the major antagonists in the One Piece series and is one of the two leading contenders to be the main villain in the One Piece series. Blackbeard is an infamous pirate in the One Piece world and is known for his twisted nature.
Blackbeard started his life of piracy as a member of the Whitebeard’s pirate crew. Although he was reasonably strong and had much potential, he always kept a low profile in the crew. He was a dedicated crew member of the Whitebeard Pirates but as it turns out, it was all just a facade. Blackbeard was in reality researching devil fruits and biding his time. When Thatch, a fellow crewmate, found the Yami Yami devil fruit, Blackbeard did what no one dared to do and killed his fellow crewmate. He stole and ate the Yami Yami no Mi (Dark-Dark Fruit) which allows him to create and control darkness. Later in the Paramount War, when Whitebeard was at his weakest near the end of the war, he and his subordinates shot Whitebeard to death. He then did something that was never seen before, he stole Whitebeard’s Gura Gura no Mi (Tremor-Tremor Fruit) and thus became the first known individual to possess two devil fruit abilities.
Without a doubt, Blackbeard is one of the most hated characters in the One Piece series. He has betrayed and stabbed many in the back to get to where he is today. In a sense, he is the only character so far who portrays the most predicated image/nature of a pirate, filled with cruelty, betrayal and hunger for power. He has betrayed many, friends and foes alike, to gain power.
There are many who seek to eliminate Blackbeard and end his reign of terror. And there are many who have tried to do so, like Portgas D. Ace and the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates, but Blackbeard was too strong and conniving for them. Although his ways of acquiring strength are not commendable, he has proved himself to be a force to be reckoned with.
Blackbeard is the sworn enemy of Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the One Piece series. This without a doubt makes Blackbeard a promising contender to be the main villain of the series. Still, the series is far from over and we would have to sit tight and witness how Blackbeard’s journey ends, if it ever does.
A. So far, according to the information available, Blackbeard is undefeated in a series. Although he has found himself in a pickle and was almost defeated many times, he always had a dirty trick up his sleeve and would use treachery to sway things in his favor.
A. At first, in the Skypiea Arc, Blackbeard hunted down Luffy to claim the bounty on his head. Later, in the Water 7 Arc, Blackbeard wanted to capture Luffy and hand him to the World Government to prove himself worthy of becoming a Warlord of the Sea by apprehending the person who destroyed Enies Lobby.
