Yasop was surprised, but he declined. After Usopp was born, Yasopp eventually left his wife's support to pursue his aspirations of being a pirate while his kid was still a little child. He thus joined the Red Hair Pirates. The Gomu Gomu no mi was taken during a crew attack on a CP9 World Government ship 13 years prior.

In an effort to put an end to the conflict, Yasopp and the other Red Hair Pirates came to Marineford. Yasopp could be seen lining up with Shanks and the rest of the crew, getting ready for a fight, but Sengoku agreed to the cease-fire and put a stop to the conflict. Ace and Whitebeard were taken by Shanks, who then buried them on an unidentified island in the New World. The Whitebeard Pirates and the rest of the crew attended the burial to show their respect for Yasopp.

The crew then started to move in their direction, challenging them to a battle and demanding their copy of the Road Ponehlyph. When Yasopp saw Shanks taking care of the Kid Pirates by himself, he told Shanks that Kid appeared to have healed from the wounds he had at Wano.
Yasopp’s ability to get the rest of his crew to join in on his fun is one of many personality qualities that he and his kid have in common. Usopp's father is extremely proud of him, to the extent that he frequently speaks to Luffy about him. As a result, Luffy was able to instantly recognize Usopp from Yasopp's stories. Yasopp felt a connection to Luffy throughout his stay in the hamlet since Luffy is the same age as his kid, whom he abandoned at home.

He wore a dark blue shirt, dark green trousers down to his calves, and blue shoes with buckles when he was at Foosha Village. At this point, he put his headband on. He is dressed in a black A-shirt, shorts, everyday boots, and a big belt with a bag on it for Marineford. He is wearing a little necklace as well. He still wears his distinctive star-patterned cloak, and a band holding his gun to his back.

Usopp's father, Yasopp, truly loves him even though he left Usopp as a baby to become a pirate. Usopp loves, admires, respects, and is extremely proud of his father for being a pirate, hence the affection is reciprocal. Usopp punched Kuro hard when he made fun of his father, telling Kuro that his father's identity was the one thing he would never lie for and that being a pirate's son was the greatest pride he had ever experienced.
Merry claims that Usopp began fabricating reports that pirates were approaching Syrup Village so that his father would believe him.
