Zunesha’s History

Zunesha, a thousand-year-old elephant from the New World, was once a companion of Joy Boy. 800 years ago, due to a crime, it was condemned to roam the seas for eternity and could only act when ordered.

During the Zou Arc, the Beasts Pirates, led by Jack, attacked Zou. Zunesha, feeling Jack's presence, suffered. When Jack returned intending to kill Zunesha, the elephant, with permission from Momonosuke, defended itself, defeating Jack's fleet.

In the Wano Country Arc, near Wano, Zunesha encountered World Government ships. It communicated with Momonosuke through the Voice of All Things, expressing its intent to fight under his command and open Wano's borders. Zunesha recognized Monkey D. Luffy as the one linked to Joy Boy's return.

After Kaido's defeat, Momonosuke chose not to open Wano's borders yet. Respecting this decision, Zunesha left Wano and disappeared into the mist.

Zunesha’s Personality

Zunesha's personality is mostly unknown, but it doesn't mind carrying an entire civilization on its back. It cares deeply about the Mink Tribe.

As a punishment for a past crime, Zunesha can only wander and needs permission from someone who understands it to defend itself. Miyagi suggests that Zunesha might be searching for a specific location rather than walking aimlessly

Zunesha is a massive elephant, as big as an island. Its long, two-jointed legs let it walk on the sea floor while keeping a third of each leg above water. Despite its huge size, Zunesha has small, barely visible eyes with turquoise irises, giving the impression that it has no eyes.

Its gray, heavily wrinkled skin reflects its old age, and its ears are tattered and frayed at the edges.

Zunesha’s Abilities

Zunesha has incredible longevity. Its enormous size lets it carry the entire island of Zou on its back, and its endurance has allowed it to walk continuously for over a millennium.

Zunesha can use its trunk to suck up and expel massive amounts of seawater along with fish. With a swing of its trunk, it can wipe out fleets of ships and defeated Jack of the Beasts Pirates.

Despite its strength, Zunesha's weak and aged skin can be damaged by concentrated cannon fire due to its long life.

One unique ability it possesses is the "Voice of All Things," allowing it to telepathically communicate with others who share this ability.

Zunesha’s Relationship with Others

The Mink Tribe

Zunesha helps the Mink Tribe by showering itself with seawater twice a day. This provides the Minks with fish and water through a filtration system, seen as a blessing. When attacked by Jack, Zunesha sought permission from Momonosuke to fight and successfully defeated Jack's fleet, surprising the Minks with its own will.

Kozuki Momonosuke

Zunesha used the "Voice of All Things" to communicate with Momonosuke during an attack, allowing him to give the order to retaliate. Zunesha came to Wano to assist Momonosuke and awaited his orders.

Joy Boy

Momonosuke believes Zunesha was a comrade of Joy Boy during the Void Century, though the details of their relationship remain unknown. Zunesha has nostalgic feelings for Joy Boy and recognized the sound of the Drums of Liberation after 800 years.
