Felton began acting in ads for companies such as Commercial Union and Barclaycard. He landed his first feature film role in 1997 when he starred in The Borrowers. He also voiced a character called James in the TV series Bugs. Felton was born in Epsom, Surrey, England, the youngest of four sons born to Peter Felton and Sharon Anstey. His parents divorced when he was an adolescent. Felton attended school at West Horsley's Cranmore School until age 13, after which he attended the Howard of Effingham School for high school. Felton developed an interest in singing during his childhood and subsequently joined school choirs.
