TikTok Politicians

Believe it or not, TikTok is a prominent destination for ideological formation, political activism, and trolling despite the reluctance of its parent company to be involved in this particular divisive field. There are over nine heads of state/ Prime Ministers that are currently a part of TikTok with six of them holding verified accounts as reported by the New York Times.

With the idea of galvanizing the youth to participate in elections, a lot of politicians from different countries from across have joined TikTok. Though the platform and its algorithm can be utilized for disseminating a barrage of false information and fake news, this has not stopped a lot of politicians but instead motivated them to talk as transparently as they can on the platform. As of now, there are over 18.6 billion views on #politics.
