Timothy John Betar, popularly known by his online name TimtheTatman, is a YouTuber, internet celebrity, and video game streamer with an estimated net worth of $10 million as reported by Clutch Points and WealthyGorilla. Betar first stepped into online servers as a live streamer in 2012 when he joined the popular streaming platform, Twitch. He initially started streaming as a hobby and worked full-time as a social worker. He received a lot of positive feedback for his streams and decided to start a channel on YouTube in the following year so that his content could reach a wider audience, specifically those who were not on Twitch. Betar chose to stream the popular MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) World of Warcraft, and in a couple of years saw his Twitch channel grow to over 11,000 followers which proved to be enough motivation for Betar to leave his job and try pursuing streaming full time.
Over the next five years, Betar had a small dedicated community that had started following him and supporting his content. With the eventual release of Epic Games’ Fortnite in 2017, the game became viral and caused a massive influx in terms of viewership for any popular streamer who chose to play the title. Consequently, Betar finally found mainstream recognition and quickly rose to become one of the most popular streamers on Twitch and in the world.
In the past five years alone, Betar’s TimTheTatMan YouTube channel and Twitch channel have amassed over four million subscribers, boasting over 800 million views and over seven million followers respectively.
TimTheTatMan was awarded the Fan Favorite Male Streamer/Gamer of the Year at the 2018 Gamers' Choice Awards. During a 2018 stream, he received a total of $106,000 in donations and broke Twitch’s record for charitable donations. He subsequently donated this to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
