They started studying music at the young ages of 4 and 6, thus they set off on their musical adventure early. Their love of music swiftly turned into a career when they joined a band and gave weekly performances at a church. Their public performances started with this, and by 2011, they had dubbed themselves duet MR. But in 2015, they changed their name to Mau & Ricky, a moniker that would quickly come to represent success in Latin pop music.

They made their debut in the music industry with the release of their first EP, *Arte*, in 2017 under the esteemed Sony Music Latin label. Their album *Para Aventuras y Curiosidades* was published in May 2019, two years later, and it marked a key turning point in their career. Billboard's Latin Pop rankings saw the album debut at No. 3, where it remained for 39 weeks. Their popularity brought them attention on several additional Billboard charts as well as numerous diamond and platinum records in the US. When the album was named a finalist for the Latin Pop Album of the Year title at the 2020 *Billboard* Latin Music Awards, its significance was further cemented.

Together with Sebastián Yatra and Mora, Mau y Ricky released the smash track "3 de la Mañana" in 2021, ushering in a new chapter of successful singles in 2022, 2023, and beyond as they transitioned into their third period. They revealed the *Desgenerados Mixtape* in November 2023, showcasing their diversity and creative development with both new and previously released songs. Building on this momentum, they unveiled designs for *Hotel Caracas*, which they call their most ambitious project to date. Ready for a 2024 release, this project is anticipated to consist of more than just an album; it will encompass a headline tour and a film or documentary that documents the record's making, providing fans with an in-depth look into their creative process.

The sons of Argentine-born Venezuelan singer-songwriter Ricardo Montaner and director Marlene Rodríguez are Mauricio Alberto "Mau" Reglero Rodríguez (born August 17, 1993) and Ricardo Andrés "Ricky" Reglero Rodríguez (born November 21, 1990). The brothers were born in Caracas, Venezuela, and raised there until they were 7 and 10 years old, at which point they moved to Miami, Florida. Their father's previous marriage produced two elder half-brothers, Alejandro Manuel, and Héctor Eduardo, as well as a younger sister, Evaluna, with whom they have a close kinship.
