Le Joueur du Grenier (literally "The Attic Gamer") is the main character and title of a web television series of hilarious retrogaming video reviews developed by French filmmakers Frédéric Molas and Sébastien Rassiat in 2009, featuring Frédéric Molas and Sébastien Rassiat themselves.
The channel mainly centers around retro game reviews that include rants against games of particularly low-quality or poor design, similar to the Angry Video Game Nerd, which is the show's direct inspiration.
On September 13, 2012, the channel launched a new series called Papy Grenier, in which Le Joueur du Grenier discusses good video games for 5 to 8 minutes per episode. They eventually developed the Bazar du Grenier ("The Attic Bazar") channel, which contains more diverse videos (including playthroughs or cinema critics).
They have almost 3.7 million subscribers on their official YouTube channel and over 1.8 million on their secondary Bazar channel. As a result, it is one of the most popular French channels on the website. Frédéric Molas has also hosted a Twitch broadcast channel called Joueur du Grenier since 2020, with over 805.980 subscribers.

Since the age of seven, Frédéric Molas has been obsessed with video games, notably the Mega Drive, his favorite console. Following his Bachelor’s degree, he acquired a certificate of Brevet de technicien supérieur in corporate communication, allowing him to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in multimedia.
He became interested in video production by creating machinimas (videos generated from graphics of video games) while studying at the Institute for multimedia development and education, where he met Sébastien Rassiat.
They formed an association to create institutional videos, working for free for a year before obtaining a little salary. They launched the program Le Joueur du Grenier in September 2009, believing that their association would only last a few months. Their subject was testing video games noted for their low quality or high difficulty, as inspired by The Angry Video Game Nerd.
In November 2013, the duo joined the NESblog collective, which includes videographers such as Realmyop, Coeurdevandale, Usul, Karim Debbache, and many more, all of whom frequently appear in their videos.
At the request of Capcom, Frédéric Molas and Sébastien Rassiat created four short comedic presentation movies for the video game Dragon’s Dogma between May 16 and June 6, 2012.
The series title, “Joueur du Grenier”, refers to the concept of resurrecting ancient archived games. The show uses the same popular concept as its American counterpart, The Angry Video Game Nerd, which is the review of video games from the 1980s, 1990s, and, more recently, the 2000s, which are frequently judged terrible.
The series’ primary character is “The Attic Gamer”, who conducts the tests on his sofa in front of a camera. Throughout the play, he wears a yellow shirt with green palms, making him easily identifiable.
Many YouTubers have appeared as extras throughout the years, ranging from local French YouTubers like Usul or Antoine Daniel to American internet comedians like The Nostalgia Critic’s Doug Walker and even the Angry Video Game Nerd himself, James Rolfe, during the series’ 11th-anniversary episode.
According to Net Worth Spot, the duo is worth $753.57 thousand as of August 2022. The Joueur Du Grenier channel has an average of 3.14 million views per month and approximately 104.66 thousand views per day. YouTube channels can earn between $3 and $7 per thousand video views.
According to Net Worth Spot, Joueur Du Grenier earns $12.56 thousand each month, totaling $188.39 thousand every year. Ads might bring in more than $339.11 thousand per year if Joueur Du Grenier has a good salary. YouTubers rarely have a single source of revenue. Influencers can earn money by promoting their own products, receiving sponsorships, or earning affiliate commissions.
