While attending a secondary high school in Northern Ireland on May 12, 2011, Thompson launched his YouTube channel as a hobby. He classified his first video as a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 kill-streak video, even though some of his earlier videos are now private.
“How To: Be Russian” is the oldest video on Thompson’s channel. He plays Call of Duty online and makes fun of the players he’s playing against in the video.
One of his videos featured Teseride in a Minecraft “skit” of the movie “The Journey.” In some of his videos from 2012, he poked fun at Call of Duty and made jokes about it. One of Mini’s first videos heavily used editing and was titled “3v3 Riot Shield Battle.” Here is where he first realized how much he liked editing. His subscriber count rose to 10,000 by February 2013. In 2013, a few of Thompson’s friends posted videos of him playing Call of Duty while inebriated.
Before he began creating Garry’s Mod: Sandbox videos, Thompson had amassed 10 million views on YouTube by April 10, 2014. After raising more than $55,000 in a 24-hour live charity event on May 5, 2016, Thompson dyed his hair pink. However, at times he had to stop because his hair was constantly growing out. He either uses his GTA V character or the enormous Mario character in his GMod Player Models.
Since YouTube only allows YouTubers to swear up to a certain point, Thompson started censoring swear words on his videos in late August 2018. This was done so he could resume being paid as frequently as he once was. His fans have reacted to the change differently, as most of his friends continue to be paid but do not censor their content. He has stopped censoring his swearing as of late September and early October, though.
He took a break from YouTube in January 2020 after splitting up with his girlfriend Sami. He released a video in February 2020 titled “Why I Left”, in which he discussed splitting up with Sami, leaving Portland, and returning to his Los Angeles home. He acknowledged that they are still friends even though he and Sami broke up.
Thompson is a member of The Thirst Project and is well known for his dedication to charitable giving. In May 2018, he hosted two 12-hour live streams and is said to have raised $150,000 for the organization. He traveled to Swaziland in November 2018 as part of the project to assist in constructing wells for which his neighborhood had raised money.
He was appointed to The Thirst Project’s board in October 2019 and received the Cameron Boyce Pioneering Spirit award.
Additionally, he has made sizable contributions to organizations like Northwest Counseling Ltd., Macmillan Cancer Support, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
As of July 2022, Thompson is worth $4 million, according to various sources. More than 1.86 million views per month and more than 62.16 thousand views per day are attracted to the Mini Ladd YouTube channel. For every a thousand views of a video on a monetized YouTube channel, they could make $3 to $7. According to Net Worth Spot, Mini Ladd makes $7.46k per month, or $111.9k annually. Mini Ladd could, in the best case scenario, make up to $201.41 thousand annually.
