Big Hit Entertainment founder Bang Si-hyuk announced plans for a second boy group as early as 2017, with a debut date slated for early 2019. On January 10, 2019, TXT was officially unveiled. Over the next ten days, YouTube videos featuring each member, termed “introduction films,” were uploaded.
