Wassabi Productions is a prominent American sketch and improv comedy channel formed by Roi Fabito (Roi Wassabi) and Alexander "Alex" Burriss (aka Alex Wassabi). Initially established and owned by Roi, Alex joined shortly after, and the two quickly became well-known for their engaging skits, imaginative music videos, and amusing comic material.
However, on January 27, 2016, Roi chose to leave Wassabi Productions to focus on his new endeavor, Guava Juice. This left Alex as the only proprietor, and he expanded the channel's programming to include vlogs and challenge videos. Surprisingly, on January 27, 2024—exactly eight years later—Roi returned to Wassabi Productions, signaling a momentous reconciliation between the two.

Roi "S.Q.U.I.R.T.I.N.G.S" Fabito and Alex Burriss met in middle school in Durham, North Carolina. They used to reside in the same neighborhood and later attended the same high school, where they became best friends. In 2005, Roi decided to start Wassabi Productions by making movies with his friends Robby and Matt using his parents' camera.
One day, Roi asked Alex if he wanted to do a video with him. Alex finally became Wassabian. In 2006, they uploaded their films to share with their family and friends. Not only did their family and friends like their recordings, but so did many others from all over the world; their videos received a lot of views. The YouTube channel was originally called hoiitsroi but then changed to Wassabi, inspired by a moment in Jackass The Movie where Steve-O inhaled wasabi through his nostrils. Roi adored the term "wasabi", therefore he used it as his account nickname for the game Starcraft, but he spelled it incorrectly by adding an extra "s".
Roi's buddies grew older and chose to quit creating movies, leaving just Alex with him. They took up filming as a pastime, creating lip-syncs, dancing films, and hilarious videos. When it was time for them to attend college for ten months, they stopped filming. After that, they decided to create fresh videos for the Wassabi return.
On April 7, 2012, Wassabi released two new characters: Rolanda and Richard, who appeared in the "Call Me Maybe" Parody. Rolanda was inspired by Roi dressing up as a female for a Halloween party in 8th grade, back in middle school. Since then, their YouTube channel has accumulated over 8 million followers and 3 billion views. Roi and Alex, as Wassabi, flew to Florida, Los Angeles, and all around the world to meet fans, perform gigs, and go on adventures. Roi and Alex decided to create weekly videos and share them on Wassabi Wednesday. Their goal is to make people laugh and motivate Wassabians.
They relocated from North Carolina to Los Angeles, California, seeking perks as YouTubers, residing in a rumored haunted apartment with other YouTubers Kyle, YellowPaco, and Marlin. After a year, Roi thought it was time for them to mature as individuals, so they moved into separate homes while continuing to produce movies.
On January 27, 2016, Roi quit Wassabi Productions to focus on his other pursuits, including his channel, Guava Juice. As a consequence, Alex became the sole proprietor of Wassabi Productions, which eventually expanded into vlogs and challenge videos. Notably, Alex removed the word "Productions" from the channel's name since he believed it was more related to his and Roi's previous partnership. However, Roi eventually made guest appearances on the Wassabi channel while maintaining his Guava Juice identity.
After a few months of deliberation, they agreed to resume filming films together in May 2023, but this time under a new brand called Spicy Fruit, a collaboration of their companies, where they released food and challenge videos, as well as other variety videos.
On January 27, 2024, precisely eight years after leaving Wassabi Productions, the channel announced Roi's formal comeback and relaunched it as Wassabi Productions. Meanwhile, Spicy Fruit has been transformed into a podcast.
