For a vast majority of the public, YouTube to date is synonymous with music. Music videos are one of the most popular categories if not the most popular category on YouTube as a lot of people still rely on YouTube as their means of discovering new music. Owing to this, YouTube is the destination of choice for indie and established artists alike as it allows them to build their own niche audience and crowd which helps upcoming artists to find success in their music careers.
Music videos are also often considered ‘parent’ content as they allow for other categories of content to flourish using them as the base, case in point being reaction videos, song and music video parodies, and finally commentaries.
