Minecraft Planks

Planks can be used to construct a support style for buildings as well as homes, huts, and shacks. Planks of wood are a sustainable resource. Despite the fact that it is easily burned, wood is abundant in biomes with trees, making it a valuable building material.

Naturally generated wood planks can be found in abandoned mine shafts, villages, pillager outposts, shipwrecks, woodland mansions, and witch huts. Oak-wood planks are used in villages and mineshafts, dark oak wood planks are used in abandoned mineshafts and badlands biomes, and spruce planks are seen in swamp huts.

The Different Types of Wood Planks in Minecraft:

  3. Jungle wood planks
  4. Spruce wood planks

Required Materials to Make Planks in Minecraft

  1. 1 Log

Logs are a vital resource obtained from trees in Minecraft. In Survival Mode, much of the initial gameplay depends solely on this resource as a player has to start harvesting logs to make any advancement since they pave the paths for crafting tools, items, etc. Logs are obtained from trees, and there are many different varieties that range from biome to biome, but they share the same purposes.

How do you get logs in Minecraft?

Step 1: Decide the type of log you want

Since there are various types of logs available to you, there are 9 different options for you to choose from. However, the difference matters only in a few applications, with the most popular being the construction of buildings where different textures have the potential to spruce up the appearance.

Decide the type of log you want

Step 2: Find the tree

Once you have decided upon the type of log you want, you now need to find that tree in your Minecraft world. For example, you will have to find an Oak tree for harvesting Oak logs. Oak trees are usually found in the Forest, Extreme Hills, Swampland or Mesa Plateau biomes.

Each tree has its own unique appearance so they are fairly distinguishable. However, each biome typically only spawns 1-2 different types of trees. If you are missing a certain type of wood, you will just need to travel to unexplored areas to find different types of wood.

Both the crimson and warped wart planks require you to find either a crimson or warped wood biome in the nether. Mangrove trees will appear in specially generated Mangrove swamps. They have yet to be officially released, but have appeared in the 22w14a snapshot update.

Step 3: Hold an axe

Once you have crafted an axe. Equip it and move towards the trees. Although, it is worth mentioning that initially, trees will have to be chopped by hand since no alternate options will be available. The only difference between chopping with a hand and an axe is the speed of producing logs. With an axe, it's faster and more efficient.

Hold an axe

Step 4: Start chopping

By now, you have found a tree and have an axe equipped. All that’s left is chopping down the tree by holding the left-click button. Continue chopping till the log breaks and floats about as a pick-able item.

Start chopping

Step 5: Pick up the Oak Log

Grab the oak log on the ground and get crafting!

How to make Planks in Minecraft?

In a Nutshell:

To make planks, open the crafting table UI containing the 3x3 grid. put a block or more of wood in the crafting grid to make wooden planks. Four wood planks are retrieved per log when this is finished.

Oak Log:

Step 1: Open the crafting table

Open your crafting table to begin crafting planks with the obtained ingredients contained in your inventory. Once you open your crafting table you will have the 3x3 crafting grid similar to the picture below:

Step 2: Add the Oak Log

Place a block of log in the crafting table, preferably in the center box of the crafting grid. Each block creates 4 planks, so the number of logs you add will be multiplied by 4.

Step 3: Drag it into your inventory

Wooden Plank Trivia

Wooden Planks, specifically oak wooden planks, are one of the oldest blocks in Minecraft. They first appeared in the rd-20090515 pre-Classic version in May 2009.

While multiple types of wooden planks were available since the 1.2.4 update to the Java edition of Minecraft in 2012, it wasn’t until the 1.3.1 update that the separate wooden planks could make their own respective slabs, stairs, and doors.

There are many wooden items that reflect the design of oak wood despite being made from a different type of wood. Because of this Oak wood is often seen as the default wood.

Burning Wooden Planks as Fuel

If wooden planks are used to cook an item in a furnace, a single wooden plank is able to cook 1.5 items. Converting a log into 4 wooden planksallows you to cook 6 items total instead of 1.5 as a log.

You can also break down two wooden planks into 4 sticks. Each stick will cook 0.5 items, so you will need at least 2 sticks to fully cook something. Two wooden planks makes for more efficient fuel than breaking them down into sticks.

Conclusion:

Congratulations! You can now craft wood plank, perhaps the most essential tool in Minecraft given that it is the basis of the crafting table itself. Creating a cabin-like look in buildings and residences. Wood planks are a necessary crafting material for even the simplest tools, as well as a critical resource for those just starting out in the game and trying to make it through the first few days. Wood planks can be used as furnace fuel (each plank melting 1 1/2 items).
