How to make a Beacon in Minecraft

In a Nutshell:

To make a beacon, place 3 Obsidian blocks in the last row of crafting GUI, a netherite star in the center and fill up the remaining boxes with 5 glass blocks. Drag it into your own inventory and place your beacon on top of a pyramid to grant you special power-ups in its vicinity.

Beacons were first seen in Update 0.16.0 and function as a useful but expensive block that emits a bright beam of light into the sky. Beacons in their current state are mainly used to provide potion effects such as Speed, Jump Boost, Haste, Regeneration, Resistance, or Strength to nearby players

Beacons are also commonly utilized by players as a source of light, as they emit a light source value of 15.

FAQs

Q. How many blocks does a full Beacon take?

A. It requires a total of 164 blocks to form the pyramid you place the Beacon on.

Q. How do you fully power a Beacon?

A. First, 81 blocks are placed on the bottom layer in a 9x9 square. Then, 49 blocks are placed in a 7x7 square. Next, 25 blocks are placed in a 5x5 square. After that, 9 blocks are placed in a 3x3 square. Finally, to complete the pyramid, you set the Beacon on top.

The block types that are valid in the pyramid must be either iron blocks, gold blocks or diamond blocks.

Conclusion

Beacons are not a necessary item in Minecraft, but they can be very useful as you can add potion effects to help with nearby tasks. Beacons also act as dependable landmarks since they spawn an unmissable beam of light into the sky, essentially advertising their exact location to afar. To both use and power a beacon, a pyramid structure of expensive mineral blocks will need to be constructed as a base for said beacon, as detailed above.
