1. Brewing Stand
2. Blaze Powder
3. Glass Bottles
4. Water
5. Magma Cream
6. Nether Wart

In order to make a fire resistance potion, you will need a brewing stand. To get the blaze rod needed to make the brewing stand you will need to find a nether fortress and defeat some blaze enemies to acquire them.

Blaze powder can be made from blaze rods in your crafting menu. Each blaze rod will yield two blaze powder. You will need these powders to fuel your brewing stand.

Magma cream is an item that drops from magma cubes in the nether. Magma cubes can spawn anywhere in the nether and because they split into so many smaller versions, getting a lot of magma cream should prove to be very simple.

Nether wart is found in nether fortresses. Traveling in the nether can be dangerous but the room where they are found is frequently generated in many nether fortresses.

In a Nutshell:

To make a fire resistance potion, open the brewing stand. In the brewing stand GUI, place your water bottle in one of the bottom three boxes. Here is the step-by-step pictorial guide you need to follow to make fire resistance potion in Minecraft:

To make fire resistance potions you will need to travel to the nether. To build a portal to the nether begin by placing obsidian four blocks wide and five blocks tall.

Next you can light the nether portal if you have flint and steel. To make flint and steel you will need an iron ingot and a flint. Simply place the flint and the iron ingot into your crafting menu in any of the nine crafting spaces and you can start traversing the nether.

Light your portal, step into the purple gate, and wait a few moments to be transported to the nether.

Next you will need to locate a nether fortress. These fortresses can be extremely rare, if you are fortunate your portal may generate right on top of one.

While you look for your fortress you may encounter these black and red slimes. These magma cubes are another part of the fire resistance potion. Hunt them down to get some magma cream. They may be immune to lava but the magma cream isn’t! Keep them away so your magma cream does not get incinerated.

Be careful of the big ones! The smaller magma slimes that spawn can get out of hand very quickly. Watch your surroundings and keep your back to a wall to prevent getting knocked into lava.

Once you have located the red/purple hue of the brick you know you have found your fortress! Your goal is to track down blaze. They can spawn inside and around the fortress so keep your eyes peeled.

A blaze spawner can make your life much easier if you are lucky enough to find one.

Simply defeat enough blaze until you have a decent supply of blaze rods. You will need at least one blaze rod to make the brewing stand. Try to get extra as you will need them to fuel your brewing stand.

Run throughout your fortress until you come across a staircase with some soul sand and some red fungus growing. This is the nether wart you will need to brew your fire resistance potion.

After you have collected all your materials, head to safety and back to your crafting table. Using your blaze rod, combine it with three pieces of cobblestone in a crafting table to make a brewing stand.

Your brewing stand will need some blaze powder in order to work. Just place a blaze rod into your crafting menu to make blaze powder. Each blaze rod will yield two blaze powder.

Right click your brewing stand to open its UI. Place your blaze powder in the top left slot to fuel your brewing stand.

Next, you will need some glass bottles. Smelt some sand in a furnace to make glass and arrange three pieces of glass in a “v” shape in a crafting menu to make glass bottles.

With your glass bottles, right-click any water source to fill your bottles up and get water bottles. Right-click your brewing stand and place the water bottles at the bottom.

You are almost done! Place the nether wart into the top slot and wait for it to fill into the water bottles. Once it is done you will have your base for the fire resistance potion: the awkward potion.

After you have your awkward potions leave them in the slots below and add a magma cream to the top.

After it is done cooking you will be rewarded with three fire resistance potions. They will last three minutes and placing Redstone in the ingredient slot will make the potions last eight minutes.

After drinking one you will notice orange swirls and a shield with a flame icon on your right indicating you have the fire resistance buff. Lava is very thick and difficult to swim through, but it beats taking damage.

You can now recklessly swim in lava as much as you please. Just keep an eye on your buff timer to prevent burning to a crisp.

Congratulations! You can now be immune to one of the most hostile elements in Minecraft. Your items do not get the same benefit so keep your hands away from the drop item button. Dropping into lava is one of the most frustrating things that can happen to a player, but keep a fire resistance potion on hand and you have much less to worry about.
