It is very simple to earn an achievement in the Bedrock edition of Minecraft. Some of them are particularly easy and it’s harder to avoid getting the achievement in some cases. For example, when you first start a Minecraft world, one of the first achievements you will ever get is opening your inventory.
Most achievements just require you to fulfill their requirements. For example, the “Top of the World” requires you to place a scaffolding at the world height limit. While you do not need to make a tower of scaffolding, this does make the process easy as you can quickly tower up to the top and get down safely. Once you are at the bottom you can clean up the tower by just breaking the scaffolding.
Alternatively, you can tower up with any brick and then place a scaffolding at the world height limit. Both will count for your achievement. You will have to be playing on survival Minecraft in order to be eligible for achievements in the first place. They would not mean much if you could cheat your way through all of them.
To look at your achievements, you will need to check your profile in the main menu of Minecraft. When you first open Minecraft, you will see the Minecraft title screen, a play button, settings, marketplace, and there is a profile button on the bottom left. Click here to navigate towards your achievements.
When you open the profile you will see the characters you have created as well as an edit character button and an achievements button. You can’t miss it!
Clicking here will show you a list of every achievement you have made progress in, completed, and still have yet to accomplish. It will also show you a completion percentage, amount of rewards you have claimed, total gamerscore for Xbox, and the time played on your account.
The icon of the “echolocation” achievement shows the neck of a dolphin as shown at Minecon Earth 2017, but it is not actually in the game.
In an interview about achievements in 2011, Notch said: “I like achievements. I know a lot of people don't, but I like them. I've had the idea to make achievements kind of like the in-game questing. So you'd be able to see the first achievement in a tree of achievements, and you unlock the top ones first before you can unlock the ones further down. So the first one might be to chop down a tree, or kill a chicken, and then these branch into more things you can do. Hopefully, it would encourage people to try new areas. It could converge into a big task, like killing a dragon or something, which would put a kind of narrative into the achievement tree.” Hinting towards potential additions to the game.
The original design philosophy of achievements has been “not chores, but challenges”. This was to prevent activities like chopping down 100,000 logs and more leaning towards riding a pig off of a cliff. The design team has maintained this philosophy almost 10 years later.
A. Many achievements can take a moment to pop. If you waited a decent amount of time (no longer than 2 minutes) then it could be a more internal issue. You may not have unlocked the prerequisite for the achievement, your internet may be having problems, or your game may not be up to date.
Do some troubleshooting and try to set up the achievement once again. Also, remember that achievement can only be obtained in the survival mode of Minecraft. You cannot earn achievements if your world has been set to create at least once. You will have to make a new world and ensure it stays in survival.
A. “A furious cocktail”, or “how did we get here?” is the hidden achievements/advancements you can obtain in Minecraft. They have different names for the Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft. Both of these require you to have every possible benefit/detriment available to your player at the same time. Obviously, this will take some preparation, but after looking at a list of every buff and debuff, you can easily accomplish this with some foresight.
A. Some achievements are locked as they are more “advanced”. They require a prerequisite that is typically unique to the achievement. Usually, if an achievement is locked, getting a step done before that achievement will allow you to obtain it. They are typically locked if you have not done the step required for that achievement. Give it a shot and see if what you did qualifies for the achievement’s description.
Congratulations, you now know every achievement available in the game of Minecraft. As Notch said, these achievements are not meant to be chores, but rather a challenge for players to accomplish. You can take it as seriously or as relaxed as you want.
While there is some benefit to unlocking some achievements, they are purely cosmetic and offer no in-game advantages. They are meant to give you something to do. Depending on the kind of person you are, you may welcome this or hate it. Luckily, regardless of how you feel about it, you do not have to complete every achievement if you do not want to.
