Hoe

A hoe requires two sticks for crafting and two other resources. The block blocks can be: wood, any stone-tiered block, iron, gold, or diamond. A netherite hoe can also be made by placing 1 diamond hoe in the first box of your crafting menu and 1 netherite ingot in the second box. The durability of the two matching hoes can also be added together by placing both hoes in the crafting table or in a grindstone, plus an extra 5% durability.

A hoe can also be repaired in an anvil by adding units of the tiers' repair material (or the same hoe of that tier), with each repair material restoring 25% of the hoe's maximum durability, rounded down. Within villages, novice-level toolsmith villagers have a 25%-40% chance to sell a stone hoe for one emerald, and journeyman-level toolsmiths also have a 25%-40% chance to sell a diamond hoe for 4 emeralds.

A hoe is used for tilling dirt and breaking plant blocks more quickly. In order to till dark and transform it into farmland, press use on a grass or dirt block while holding a hoe. Tilling does not work on mycelium or podzol. It also won’t work if there are other blocks on top of the targeted blocks, such as snow layers or torches. Hoes can be worked on rooted dirt in order to get hanging roots and transform the rooted dirt into regular dirt.

Hoes can be used to convert coarse dirt into regular dirt by pressing using a hoe on the course dirt, though the space on top of the coarse dirt must be empty for it to work.
