Nether Brick is one of the rarer building materials in Minecraft as you won’t be able to find this item exploring the biomes of the Overworld. Instead, Netherrack and Nether Brick structures can only be found in one region - The Nether.
In order to obtain this material, players must create and activate a Portal to the Nether. In this fiery region, entities known as Piglins will trade your Gold Ingots for various products, including the Nether Brick.
However, players can easily obtain their own source of Nether Bricks by mining the most plentiful mineral in The Nether known as Netherrack. Continue reading to find out how to source these maroon building blocks for yourself.
To craft Nether Bricks in Minecraft, you will need the following:
Creating a Nether Portal and Pickaxe are both pre-requisites for this task.
To create Nether Bricks, first obtain Netherrack from the Nether. Place Netherrack in a Furnace and smelt it using fuel such as wood or coal. If you want to create Brick Blocks, do so by placing 4 units of Nether Brick adjacent to each other on the crafting grid.
Nether Brick is primarily a crafting ingredient for other Nether blocks. Instead of looking for rare Nether Fortresses manually, which is a dangerous task, the player may craft Nether Brick Blocks, Fences, and even dyed Brick Blocks.
Turning your Bricks into Brick Blocks is simple! Just place any multiple of four Nether Bricks adjacent to each other on the crafting menu as shown below:
As with all building materials, the number of Brick you create depends on the number of base blocks you use in the recipe. The more Netherrack you have, the more Nether Brick you can create. Just be sure you have enough fuel to keep smelting the Netherrack into bricks!
You can even obtain Nether Bricks through trading! Thankfully, it won’t require Emeralds like when trading with Villagers. Piglins, mobs that spawn in the Nether, are friendly by default. Thus if you manage to obtain a Gold Ingot, these mobs can give you Nether Brick in return! Make sure to bring any gold with you into the Nether if you wish to trade, but make sure not to lose your inventory permanently by falling into the lava.
Q. Do Nether Brick Blocks burn forever like Netherrack does?
Actually, no! Nether Brick Blocks serve the opposite function of Netherrack and actually prevent flames from spreading, including flame attacks from Ghasts.
Q. How many Nether Bricks can be acquired by trading 1 gold ingot?
The value is random, like most Piglin trades. You can acquire anywhere from two Nether Bricks to eight. Because of this, the player may find it easier to simply mine the “ground” blocks in the Nether and smelt them manually.
Nether Bricks can turn all those dangerous Netherrack blocks you have into something sturdy - Nether Brick Blocks and fireproof fences! There is no reason to put these plentiful blocks to waste - while Netherrack may be a safety hazard in most bases, converting them to Brick form is easy to do, and converting them Bricks to Brick Blocks is totally free!
