Players can TP, which stands for teleport, with the use of commands and cheats in Minecraft. In order to use commands, players will need to enable cheats in the game setting. Once this has been done players can use the ‘/’ or the ‘T’ key to open the chat. Players can use the /tp as a prefix for coordinates, biomes, structures, and players to teleport to them.
To be able to teleport in Minecraft, players will need to enable cheats in the game settings. This can be done in two different ways. The first is at the creation of a new game save, while creating a new game you will be presented with the option to enable cheats. Turning this on will allow you to use any and all commands, which include the teleport command.
If you forgot the former while creating the game, worry not as cheats can still be enabled after the game has been started. To do so you will need to head to the pause menu and go to ‘Open to LAN’. Here you will find the option to enable cheats, by clicking on it you will be able to toggle cheats.
Once you have accessed the chat, you will need to input /tp followed by the coordinates in the XYZ format. The ‘X’ coordinate represents the distance along the horizontal plane, east or west of the origin. Any distance east of the origin is represented as a positive X value (+X) whereas any distance west of the origin is shown as a negative X value (-X). The ‘Y’ coordinate represents the distance along the vertical plane, up or down from the origin. Any distance up from the origin is represented by a positive Y value (+Y) whereas any distance down from the origin is represented by a negative Y value (-Y). The ‘Z’ coordinate represents the distance along the other horizontal plane, north or south of the origin. Any distance south of the origin is represented as a positive Z value (+Z) whereas any distance north of the origin is represented as a negative Z value (-Z).
To teleport to specific biomes, you will need to use the chat to locate the biome of your choice first. To do this you will need to input the following prefix‘/locate biome’ to whatever biome you wish to go to. For example, if you want to go to the desert biome you will have to input ‘/locate biome desert’. Once you have executed this command, the game will provide the coordinates of the nearest requested biome in the chat. To teleport to it, you will simply need to click on it and then press enter.
The process of locating and teleporting to a naturally generated structure is pretty similar to teleporting to biomes. To teleport to naturally generated structures, you will need to use the chat to locate the structure of your choice first. By using the command prefix ‘/locate structure’ before the ID of the structure in the chat, you will be able to obtain the coordinates. For example, if you wish to go to the nearest taiga village you will need to input ‘/locate structure village_taiga’. Once you have executed this command the game will provide the coordinates of the nearest requested structure in the chat. To teleport to it you will simply need to click on it and then press enter.
Players can teleport themselves to other players, other players to themselves, and teleport other players to specific coordinates given that you have the admin role in the game. To teleport other players to yourself, you will need to input ‘/tp X to XYZ’ where X is the target player and XYZ represents your coordinates. The same works for teleporting yourself to other players. In this case, X will be you and XYZ represents the target players' coordinates. While you can teleport to any coordinates, be careful teleporting into unloaded chunks of the world. The world will attempt to generate around you and you could easily end up stuck in a wall. To have access to teleporting in the Java edition of Minecraft, a permission level of 2 is required.
Teleporting is a tool through which players can move around the Minecraft world quite quickly and effectively. Teleport is quite flexible and easy to use as players can teleport themselves to biomes, naturally generated structures, precise coordinates, and even other players. Players can use the teleport command by using either ‘/tp’ or ‘/teleport’ in the chat or command console. The only way to use this command is by enabling cheats in either the creation of the game world or in the settings.
