Salmon Minecraft

Fish are aquatic creatures that are found in river and ocean biomes. Players who enjoy exploring the waters of the Overworld are sure to have spotted a salmon or two at some point. These fish love to be together and are commonly found in rivers or colder water.

Spawning:

Salmon and their deep versions spawn in groups of 1–5 in cold or frozen oceans and rivers. They usually spawn 12–32 blocks underwater away from the player. While in Bedrock Edition, they spawn in groups of 3–5 in lukewarm, cold, normal, frozen oceans, their deep variants, and rivers (including frozen rivers). Salmon also spawn on the water's surface.

They spawn in three sizes: small, moderate, and large. The percentage of Small type to spawn is 31.5%, normal 52.6% and big 15.7% of the time.

Obtaining:

Fishing is the most popular method of acquiring raw salmon. Getting 1-6 experience from catching salmon is a good way to start. Guardians and elder guardians have a 2.5% chance of dropping a random fish upon death with a 25% chance of raw salmon fish. Polar bears have a 25% chance to drop 0–2 raw salmon when killed.

Drops:

Upon being killed, salmon drops:

  1. 1 raw salmon or 1 cooked salmon if killed while on fire. This is not affected by Looting. 1–3 when killed by a player or tamed wolf.
  2. In Java Edition, there is also a 5% chance of bone meal to drop.
  3. In Bedrock Edition, there is also a 25% chance for the salmon size to be small or medium and a 25% chance of 1-2 bones if the salmon size is large.

Behavior percent:

Salmon appears to swim in groups of up to seven individuals. In waterfalls, they can swim up to 4–5 blocks. The player can catch salmon by using a water bucket on it, which results in a bucket of salmon. Salmon put in buckets do not naturally despawn. When you use the fish bucket against a block, it empties the bucket, filling it with water and the fish swimming in it. An empty bucket can also be used in Bedrock Edition.

Salmon cannot live in the absence of water. They flop around for a while outside of the water before succumbing to suffocation and death. Salmon flip around on their sides. They also rotate when flipping in Bedrock Edition. The Impaling Enchantment allows a weapon to deal bonus damage to most sea creatures, excluding the Drowned and enchantment allows players to kill salmon quicker, which results in more food.

Usage:

Cooking:

Uses of Salmon- Cooking

Raw salmon may be cooked in a furnace, smoker, or over an open fire to produce cooked salmon. 0.35 experience is gained with each cooked salmon piece removed from a furnace output slot. However, cooked salmon can also be obtained by trading with fisherman villagers, or by finding it in a buried treasure‌, and even as a drop from salmon that die while on fire.

Raw salmon may be cooked in a furnace

Food:

Raw salmon restores 2 Food Points and 0.2 saturation, while the cooked variant restores 6 Food Points and 9.6 saturation.

Cats:

Uses of Salmon- Healing Cats

Firstly, Salmon can be used to heal cats by 2 Hearts. Furthermore, they can also be used to tame cats, get them off of chests, tables, and other places; breed cats or ocelots; make baby cats and ocelots grow up 10 percent faster, and even win the trust of ocelots.

Dolphins:

Raw salmon can be fed to a dolphin to increase its trust in the player and encourage it to communicate with them more frequently. After being fed raw salmon, dolphins swim to the nearest chest in a shipwreck or underwater ruin. They swim to another structure with a chest if the chest in the closest structure is destroyed making this method one of the most efficient ways to search for shipwrecks.

Wolves:

Raw salmon can be fed only to wolves not at full health, healing them by 2. In contrast, the cooked version restores their health by 6 hearts. It’s worth mentioning, that this is only possible in the Bedrock Version of the game.

Polar bears:

Polar bears can be tamed in Minecraft only by feeding them a variety of fish, so players will also have to catch some before even attempting to tame these adorable, yet fierce creatures in their world.

Trading:

Trading of Salmon

Apprentice-level Fisherman villagers have a 50%‌ (BE) or 2⁄3 (JE) chance to buy 6 raw salmon and one emerald for 6 cooked salmon. On the other hand, Journeyman-level Fisherman villagers offer to buy 13 raw salmon for an emerald.

Trivia:

  1. Salmon also spawn in rivers because, in the real world in Autumn, they travel upstream, returning from the ocean to the streams where they were born, to lay eggs.
  2. The salmon's ability to swim up waterfalls is based on salmon leaping into and above waterfalls in the real world.
  3. They appear to be influenced by real-life sockeye salmon.
