Vines are plant blocks that were added in the Adventure Update and can be placed on walls and ceilings. Vines can commonly be found in swamp and junglebiomes, hanging on leaves and the sides of trees and the ground.

Vines generate naturally in the jungle, swamp, and lush caves biomes. They can be collected by using shears on them. If any other tool is used, they will drop nothing. Shears enchanted with Efficiency are more efficient when used on vines; Efficiency II and above allow vines to be broken instantly.

Several vines can be placed in the same block space, as long as they are facing different directions. Vines can be climbed by standing next to them and holding the jump key.
