After graduating from college, Boedigheimer, his girlfriend, and his college mate, Grove, moved to Bakersfield, California. From October 2004 to December 2005, working as a production assistant on MTV's Pimp My Ride, Dane earned $700 a week. But within his 60-hour and 80-hour workweeks, there was little time to shoot at home. Dane decided after finishing work on the show that he did not want to pursue a career in television. Boedigheimer founded his Gagfilms on Valentine's Day in 2005, and the company gradually gained a following. In 2006, he launched two YouTube channels, Daneboe and Gagfilms.
