Milk is the only drinkable Bucket in Minecraft and unlike the other beverages in the game, Milk does not grant you buffs or activate a special ability. Unlike Milk in real life, it does not spoil quickly (or at all). Given this, players can stockpile milk to their heart's content, given they have enough buckets to utilize. Milk can be stored indefinitely in chests or in the inventory with no apprehension.

Milk can be utilized for two distinct usage cases. The first and most obvious is drinking the Milk by interacting with the Milk Bucket. While this beverage does not restore any hunger, it does in fact have secondary benefits that may not be readily apparent. While the effect of Milk will not be noticeable by default, try using Milk when you are affected by slowness or any other ailment. Milk removes all negative status effects from the player, making it a must-have for bosses like the Wither.
However, Milk has a secondary usage as well. When combined with sugar, eggs, and wheat, Milk becomes quite valuable in terms of hunger satisfaction. This recipe actually creates Cake which satisfies a whopping 7 bars of hunger. Considering that Milk can be obtained infinitely from a single cow, it would be good to have one fenced near your base complex.

Q. Can Milk be spilled like water or lava?
Milk is a unique bucket in that it cannot be poured or dumped out. The Milk Bucket can only be emptied by drinking it.
Q. Is Milk required for any progression in Minecraft?
No, Milk is not necessary for progression in particular. However, Milk is required for the Cake recipe that unlocks the achievement “The Lie”, which is a reference to Portal 2.
Milk has many properties that players will want to utilize and since Milk is so easy to obtain with a free bucket, this beverage can always be on hand. Bringing a bucket of Milk on each adventure could prove a useful, low-impact gameplay change that could become a valuable habit.
