Illager were recently added to Minecraft and these mobs are a hostile form of Villagers that sport bushy eyebrows and pale grey skin. One variant of Illager is the Pillager, a ranged unit that fights with a crossbow. Unlike melee Illager, these Pillagers can be manipulated to drop their crossbow and embrace friendship!
Taming a Pillager is a straightforward yet difficult task. The Pillager simply needs to expend all of its available ammunition to become a friendly unit. However, avoiding the Pillagers shots is usually next to impossible considering their laser-like aim. By utilizing slabs, the player can ensure Pillager aggression while also maintaining their safety. Only a few shots will kill a player, so be careful!
Trap the Pillager into attacking you without it being able to hit you. When the Pillager stops firing, it won’t be able to attack you any more!
This can take up to 15 minutes.
You can now guide your friend around your complex by placing fences wherever you want him to go. This ensures that he won’t wander off forever!
Q. Can I name Pillagers?
No, you cannot use a name tag to prevent a Pillager from despawning. It is an unfortunate fact.
It is fun to tame dangerous mobs. You may see a creeper and panic, only to realize your friend has placed them in a glass dome that the Creeper cannot destroy itself. Like any other mob, the Pillager can be imprisoned in a non-violent fashion. Tame your Pillager and give your friends a shock or start a collection of befriended mobs.
