If you want to find a way to glide through the skies without having to rely on playing solely on creative mode then there is an alternative solution. The elytra is an extremely rare item that can make your dreams of gliding in survival mode come true should you be fortunate enough to acquire it.

As mentioned before, Elytra is a cape-like item that when worn can allow you the ability to fly, at least so long as you don’t pick up too much speed and hurtle into an object too fast. If you move with too much momentum into an object while flying you will incur damage.

Step-1
Firstly, you are going to need to get to the end. Go through the most convenient end portal that you can find to enter this dimension.

Go to the outer outskirts of the end dimension until you find the end city. From there you will want to find an end ship.

Locate the treasure room within the ship and you should find the Elytra within.
Put it on from your item inventory and equip it in your chest plate slot and you should now have the power of flight.
Search up the Elytra in your item search bar and equip the item in your chest plate slot. It’s a much simpler process in Creative Mode.

If you wish to increase the propulsion of your flight then using firework rockets in your hands can be key to control and speed.
Step-4
One of the most important aspects of the Elytra is usage. Each second of flight with such a rare item will decrease the durability by one point, giving you seven minutes and 12 seconds of total flight without repairs.
Keep this in mind so that you consciously make repairs without outright breaking the item.
