The Minecart with Hopper (or Hopper Minecart) is a minecart that has a hopper placed inside of it. It can pick up items and take items out of the storage above itself. The difference between a Minecart with Hopper and a regular hopper is that the Minecart with Hopper can pull items more than seven times faster than regular ones.
Players can craft a Minecart with Hopper quite easily, as all you need is a minecart and a hopper. Combining the two is fairly simple, by placing the minecart and the hopper anywhere in the crafting grid you have yourself a Minecart with Hopper since the items don't need to be placed in a specific pattern.
A Minecart with Hopper will pull in items lying nearby or inside a container placed directly above the minecart, at a rate of up to 20 items per second, which is a little over seven times as fast as a normal hopper. It can also pick up items that are lying on a block directly above the track.
It does not push items into containers but a hopper underneath the track can remove items from a Minecart with Hopper on the track. Ordinary hoppers can also drop items into a Minecart with Hopper like other containers, at the normal speed of 2.5 items per second.
A Minecart with Hopper is a craftable item that is most commonly used in automated farms to pick up item drops, it can also be used to transport items over a rail network as it can transfer items 7 times as fast as a regular hopper can.
