Swampland in Minecraft

A swamp is a temperate biome found in the overworld. Unlike other biomes, they have varying temperatures, which affects their color. They are marked by shallow water bodies with oak trees covered with vines. Swamp vegetation includes dead bushes, mushrooms, sugarcanes on the bank, and seagrass on the beds of these water bodies. Besides dandelions and poppies, blue orchids grow among the grass while lily pads dot the surfaces of lakes; both are found exclusively in swamps. This is the only biome where lily pads and blue orchids are found together. Swamps can generate fossils, and fairly rare structures are found underground.

Swamps are particularly susceptible to daytime hostile mobs which spawn under the vine shrouded oak trees. This biome also has swamp huts that house witches and slimes. The slimes are spawned according to the moon phase: spawning the most during a full moon, and hardly spawning during a new moon. Swamps can have passive mobs like pigs, chickens and frogs in them.

In conclusion, swamps may not be the best place to set up base. The hostile mobs with the added witches and slimes can make survival harder than it has to be. The availability of rare resources like clay and dyes can make this an appealing pitstop for players.
