Crossbows are a huge upgrade to the manual Bows that were added to Minecraft so many years ago. These Crossbows shoot faster, are easier to use and can even do more damage. They may be harder to craft but this is a side effect of their improved durability. Crossbows differ from Bows because they do not require you to load immediately before firing.
Crossbows are powerful upgrades to the Bow which allow them to be used as a sidearm rather than having to constantly prepare to fire. This way you can block attacks with a shield and respond by firing your bow.
Follow our guide to the Tripwire Hook.
Place a Tripwire Hook in the center of your crafting grid with two strings on either side. Place an Iron Ingot above it, two Sticks on either side of the ingot, and finally one more Stick on the bottom center cell.
The Tripwire Hook recipe. Follow our tutorial for more information.
Crossbows can stay loaded, unlike the Bow which needs to be primed every time. This allows you to react to threats in a much shorter amount of time. Other benefits of using this weapon include improved damage, accuracy, and even range. These weapons pack a real punch. After shooting a Firework or Arrow, your character will need to reload the arrow. Similarly to the bow, only one shot can be prepared per volley.
Q. Is the Crossbow a true upgrade to the Bow?
With access to instant firing and Fireworks, the Crossbow demonstrates its superiority over the regular Bow.
With a crossbow, you can be one of the most fearsome offensive forces in Minecraft. These powerful ranged weapons can be upgraded with Enchantments too. You can lower reload time, shoot more shots, pierce armor, and of course place the usual universal enchantments on it like Unbreaking and Mending.
