Tool Recipes in Minecraft

Tools are quite important in Minecraft as they help you collect resources, navigate, etc. There are a number of different tools in the game. You can craft tools such as pickaxes, shovels, axes, hoes, buckets, a variety of compasses, shears, tags, etc.

Axe

An axe is an important tool in the large selection of different tools that players can use. An axe is a great tool for gathering resources such as logs, wooden planks, etc. You can also use the axe for fighting enemy mobs as it deals a massive amount of damage. An axe comes in a handful of different variants which are made from different materials. You can make an axe from wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite.

Wooden Axe

The wooden axe is the first axe made by players as it only requires wood planks and sticks to make, this axe is very simple to make. The wooden axe is the slowest and weakest axe variant, it only does 7 damage and the attack speed is 0.8. It is not the least durable axe in the game but it comes second last at 59 durability.

To make a wooden axe you will need 2 sticks and 3 wooden planks sourced from any wood. There should be 2 wood planks placed in the first row (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the second row, 1 wood plank should be in the first box and 1 stick should be in the second box (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the third row, 1 stick should be in the middlebox. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft a wooden axe.

Stone Axe

The stone axe is a more durable version of the wooden axe it also has the same attack speed as its wooden counterpart. The stone axe does little more damage than the wooden one at 9 damage per hit. It has a durability of 131 making it the third-weakest axe in the game. To craft a stone axe you need 2 sticks and 3 blocks of cobblestone or blackstone.

There should be 2 stone blocks placed in the first row (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the second row, 1 stone block should be in the first box and 1 stick should be in the second box (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the third row, 1 stick should be in the middlebox. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft a stone axe.

Iron Axe

The iron axe is the most commonly used variant of the axe, the iron axe is much more durable than the stone and wooden ones. It has an attack speed of 0.9 and does 9 attack damage per hit. It has a durability of 250 making it a much better economically as compared to other axes as iron is pretty easy to find. To craft an iron axe you will need 2 sticks and 3 iron ingots.

While crafting an iron axe you will need 2 iron ingots placed in the first row (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the second row, 1 iron ingot should be in the first box and 1 stick should be in the second box (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the third row, 1 stick should be in the middlebox. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft an iron axe.

Golden Axe

The golden axe is a less popular variant of the axe that is made from gold ingots. It has the highest attack and mining speed of 1 which is the same as the diamond and netherite axe. Even though it is quick at mining it is the least durable axe in the game. It has an attack damage of 7, the same as the wooden axe. You will need 2 sticks and 3 gold ingots to make a golden axe.

There should be 2 gold ingots in the first row (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the second row, 1 gold ingot should be in the first box and 1 stick should be in the second box (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the third row, 1 stick should be in the middlebox. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft a golden axe.

Diamond Axe

The diamond axe is the best axe in the game in terms of efficiency and availability. By going off of numbers alone the netherite axe is better but finding netherite is quite tricky as it is very rare. The diamond axe has an attack speed of 1 and attack damage of 9, its durability is 1561 making it last for quite some time. You need 2 sticks and 3 diamonds to craft a diamond axe. There should be 2 diamonds in the first row (the last box in the row should be left empty).

In the second row, 1 diamond should be in the first box and 1 stick should be in the second box (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the third row, 1 stick should be in the middlebox. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft a diamond axe.

Netherite Axe

The netherite axe is the best axe in the game in terms of damage, speed, and durability. It has 10 attack damage, 1 attack speed, and a durability of 2031. Since it is the best variant of the axe it does have some drawbacks to it. The first is that finding the material for crafting is extremely time-consuming and hard as netherite is an extremely rare resource.

Making a netherite axe is different from the other axes as it requires the player to have a diamond axe, a netherite ingot, and a smithing table. You upgrade your diamond axe into a netherite one instead of crafting one. To make a netherite ingot you must place the diamond axe and the netherite ingot in the smithing table as shown in the image below.

Stone Pickaxe

The stone pickaxe is a more durable version of the wooden pickaxe it also has the same attack speed as its wooden counterpart. The stone pickaxe does little more damage than the wooden one at 3 damage per hit. It has a durability of 131 making it the third-weakest pickaxe in the game. To craft a stone pickaxe you need 2 sticks and 3 blocks of cobblestone/blackstone.

A shovel is a tool that allows the player to collect blocks such as dirt, sand, etc. quickly. When a block is destroyed by a shovel, it will be left on the ground for any player to pick up. All tools degrade over time as they are used but a shovel will degrade twice as quickly if it is used to attack mobs.

Wooden Shovel

The wooden shovel is the easiest shovel to make as it only requires wood planks and sticks to craft. The wooden shovel is the slowest shovel variant, it only does 2.5 damage and the attack speed is 1. It has a durability of 59 which in turn makes it degrade quickly. To make a wooden shovel you will need 1 plank of any wood and 2 sticks.

When making a compass, it is important that the iron ingots and the redstone dust are placed in the exact pattern as in the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 iron ingot placed in the middlebox. In the second row, there should be 1 iron ingot placed in the first box, 1 redstone dust in the second box, and 1 iron ingot in the third box. In the third row, there should be 1 iron ingot placed in the middlebox.

Lodestone Compass

The lodestone compass is a variant of the compass that is made by using a compass on a block of lodestone. Doing this in turn makes the compass point towards that particular lodestone. This compass with work in all three dimensions of the game namely, Overwork, the Nether, and the End.

To make a lodestone compass you will need a regular compass and access to a lodestone block. When making a lodestone compass you will need to equip the compass in your hand and process to use (right-click) it on a block of lodestone. The recovery compass is a handy item to have as it allows the player to navigate to the point where they last died. This is especially helpful for recovering lost loot or gears upon death. For this to work the player must be in the same dimension as where they died last, otherwise, the compass will spin around aimlessly.

To craft a recovery compass you will need a regular compass and eight echo shards. When making a recovery compass, it is important that the echo shards and compass are placed in the exact pattern as in the image below. In the first row, there should be 3 echo shards. In the second row, 1 echo shard in the first box, 1 compass in the second box, and 1 echo shard in the third box. In the third row, there should be 3 echo shards.

To make a pair of shears you will need 2 iron ingots.

When making shears, it is important that the iron ingots are placed in the exact pattern as in the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 iron ingot in the second box. In the second row, there should be 1 iron ingot in the first box.
