Terraria Paintings

The Golfer is an NPC related to the Golf minigame added in the Journey’s End update. You can find him in the Underground Desert biome and talking to him will cause him to move into any unoccupied valid housing in the world.

All paintings sold by him are effectively rewards for doing well in the Golf minigame, not appearing in his shop until you score at least 2000 points in Golf.

1. ‘The Rolling Greens’ depicts a golf course landscape.
2. The player must have a Golf score of at least 2000 and the Moon Phase must be a Full Moon or a Waning Gibbous.

1. ‘Study of a Ball at Rest’ depicts a Golf Ball on a Golf Tee.
2. The player must have a Golf score of at least 2000 and the Moon Phase must be a Third Quarter or a Waning Crescent.

1. ‘Fore!’ depicts a golfer swinging.
2. The player must have a Golf score of at least 2000 and the Moon Phase must be a New Moon or a Waxing Crescent.

1. ‘The Duplicity of Reflections’ is a parody of the painting from 1929 ‘The Treachery of images.
2. The player must have a Golf score of at least 2000 and the Moon Phase must be a First Quarter or a Waxing Gibbous.

The Painter is an NPC who sells various paints which can be used to color blocks for more appealing builds. He arrives in your world after you have at least eight other town NPCs (four on 3DS). Depending on the biome he’s in he will sell different paintings.

1. ‘Evil Presence’ is a front-facing view of the Eye of Cthulhu.
2. Sold during a Blood Moon.

1. ‘First Encounter’ depicts a Green Slime.
2. The Moon Phase must be a Full Moon or a Waning Gibbous.

1. ‘Good Morning’ depicts a Sunflower.
2. The Moon Phase must be a Third Quarter or a Waning Crescent.

1. ‘The Land of Deceiving Looks’ depicts a Hallow Biome landscape.
2. The Painter must be in a Hallow Biome.

1. ‘Lightless Chasms’ depicts a Corruption Biome landscape.
2. The Painter must be in a Corruption Biome.

1. ‘Place Above the Clouds’ depicts a Floating Island landscape.
2. The Painter must be in the Space Biome.

1. ‘Secret of the Sands’ depicts a Desert Biome landscape with a Pyramid.
2. The Painter must be in a Desert Biome.

1. ‘Sky Guardian’ depicts a Wyvern.
2. The Painter must be in the Space Biome after the Wall of Flesh had been defeated.

1. ‘Through the Window’ depicts forest trees.
2. The Moon Phase must be a First Quarter or a Waxing Gibbous.

1. ‘Underground Reward’ depicts a Crystal Heart.
2. The Moon Phase must be a New Moon or a Waxing Crescent.

The Painter has a large number of unique paintings that are sold while he is in a Graveyard Biome. The Graveyard Biome is a player-made biome and can be created by having at least seven (six on mobile) Tombstones of any type near the player. You’ll know you’ve made the biome when the colors become desaturated and a mist covers the ground. The paintings have no other requirement other than the Painter being in the biome so they will all be available for purchase at once.

1. ‘Nevermore’ depicts a raven about the famous Edgar Allen Poe poem ‘The Raven’. The title of the piece is also a reference to the poem.

1. ‘Graveyard’ depicts a Graveyard Biome landscape.

1. ‘Ghost Manifestation’ is a piece based on the iconic movie poster from the 1982 horror film, Poltergeist.

1. ‘Wicked Undead’ is a piece based on the movie poster from the 1987 horror film, Evil Dead II.

1. ‘Bloody Goblet’ depicts a goblet overflowing with blood.

1. ‘Still Life’ depicts a bowl of fruit beside a skull.

The Princess is one of the most hard to get NPCs in the game as she requires every other town NPC (excluding the Santa Claus NPC) to be in your world. When she does move in, she will have these paintings to sell.

1. ‘Princess 64’ depicts a castle in a field with a white bridge leading over its moat. The name of the painting and the painting itself is a reference to the game ‘Super Mario 64’ and the landmark Peaches’ Castle from the Mario series.

1. ‘Painting of a Lass’ is a painting of the Princess.

1. ‘Dark Side of the Hallow’ depicts a rainbow shining from a unicorn's horn. Referencing a popular diagram of a prism splitting white light into its component colors which was famously used as the album art for Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ which the name of the painting is a reference to.

The Travelling Merchant is a unique NPC as he doesn’t require housing, leaves after a period of time, and changes his inventory daily. He will begin to appear in your world after you have at least two town NPCs and will have paintings in his inventory on rare occasions.

1. ‘Acorns’ depicts a red bulb hanging from a tree referencing the pitiful but lovable tree from the 1965 short "A Charlie Brown Christmas".

1. ‘Castle Marsberg’ is a parody of the title screen from the 1992 game ‘Wolfenstein 3D’.
2. The player must have defeated the Martian Madness event.

1. ‘Cold Snap’ depicts the Ice Queen attacking.

1. ‘Cursed Saint’ depicts Skeletron dressed as Santa Claus.
2. Sold during Christmas.

1. ‘Martia Lisa’ is a parody of Mona Lisa featuring a Martian.
2. The player must have defeated the Martian Madness event.

1. ‘Not a Kid, nor a Squid’ is a portrait of Moon Lord. The name is a reference to the Splatoon advertising tagline “You’re a kid! You’re a squid!”
2. The player must have defeated the Mood Lord.

1. ‘The Season’ depicts a snowy landscape with a present, a Christmas tree and a candy cane.
2. Sold during Christmas.

1. ‘Snowfellas’ is a parody of the Goodfellas poster featuring Snowmen.

1. ‘The Truth Is Up There’ depicts a Martian Saucer abducting a Bunny. The name is a parody of The X-Files tagline, "The Truth is Out There". It is also strikingly similar to the art for the achievement, 'Tin-Foil Hatter'.
2. The player must have defeated the Martian Madness event.

Underground Cabins are the ruins of once-existing living spaces that you can find as you explore the caves of your Terraria world. Each biome that has an underground variant at world generation has a special Cabin associated with it. These biomes include the Underground, the Glowing Mushroom Biome, the Ice Biome, the Jungle, the Desert, Granite Caves, and Marble Caves. Paintings can be found in these Cabins on occasion and are the only way to find certain paintings.

1. ‘American Explosive’ is a portrait of the Demolitionist.

1. ‘Crowno Devours His Lunch’ is a parody of Saturn Devouring His Son. Crowno is one of Terraria's Spriters.
2. ‘Discover’ depicts a player wearing Gold Armor looking at a Floating Island.

1. ‘Glorious Night’ depicts the moon and stars.

1. ‘Guide Picasso’ is a portrait of the Guide painted in the style of famous painter Pablo Picasso.

1. ‘The Merchant’ is a parody of a Leonardo da Vinci self-portrait featuring the Merchant.

Desert Underground Cabins aren’t particularly unique to any other biome’s Cabins other than having a higher chance to have the Extractinator item and being the only place to find certain paintings.

1. ‘Andrew Sphinx’ depicts a Sphinx wearing Terraria lead-developer Andrew Spink's signature green cap.

1. ‘Uluru’ depicts a landscape of Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, a landmark in the Australian outback.

1. ‘Visiting the Pyramids’ is a tourist photo-style depiction of the Traveling Merchant posing with a Pyramid with both the Merchant and the Sun wearing Sunglasses.

1. ‘Bandage Boy’ depicts a Mummy coming out of a sarcophagus.

1. ‘Divine Eye’ is an interpretation of the Eye of Providence, or "Eye of God."

The Dungeon is a massive structure near the Ocean on one side of the world. It will always be on the opposite side to the Jungle Biome and is guarded by the Dungeon Guardian and Skeletron. After defeating Skeletron the Guardian goes away and you can explore the deeper Dungeon. On the walls of the Dungeon are a variety of paintings only found there.

The Underworld (sometimes called ‘Hell’) is a biome at the very bottom of the world and spans the entire length of the world. In this biome there are broken down obsidian structures that house miscellaneous Obsidian furniture, Hellforges, and Underworld-exclusive paintings.

Goodie Bags are random drops which occur only during Halloween. They can drop from any enemy and can be opened by right clicking on them in the inventory. When opened they will give the player a random prize like a vanity set or a painting.

1. ‘Bitter Harvest’ depicts a Green Slime wearing a witch hat among Pumpkins.

1. ‘Blood Moon Countess’ is a portrait of a vampire lady.

1. ‘Hallow's Eve’ is a portrait of the Mechanic.

1. ‘Jacking Skeletron’ depicts Skeletron hovering over the Spiral Hill landmark from the film ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’.

1. ‘Morbid Curiosity’ depicts a winged skeleton examining an eyeball.

The Angler is an NPC who gives the player fishing quests where they have to fish up a special quest fish and return it to the Angler. The Angler can be found at either Ocean and will move into unoccupied valid housing after being spoken to. One of the rewards for his fishing quests is a painting.

1. ‘Pillagin Me Pixels’ depicts a pirate ship from one of Relogic’s other games, ‘Pixel Piracy’.

Q. How do I get my Painter into a Graveyard?

All NPCs can actually occupy houses in a Graveyard Biome. They will even complain about being there when you talk to them, however it doesn’t actually affect their happiness.

Q. How do I get lots of Goodie Bags?

Goodie Bags can be dropped by any enemy during Halloween so if you have a place to farm already use that. If you don’t you should use events like the Goblin Army and the Slime Rain to kill lots of enemies for more chances to get them.
