Brain of Cthulhu in Terraria

The Brain of Cthulhu can be spawned by either using a Bloody Spine in either the Crimson or Underground Crimson, or by destroying three Crimson Hearts in a Crimson world.

The Brain of Cthulhu has two phases that affect its behavior. In the first phase, the Brain of Cthulhu is invincible and it will teleport around the player. The Brain of Cthulhu spawns with 20 Creeper minions. The main boss will draw near the player before teleporting away in a random direction. The Creepers attack the player while this happens, being pulled between the player and the Brain in sweeping orbits, and forming groups that allow the player to deal damage to all the Creepers at the same time.

Once all the Creepers have been defeated, the Brain of Cthulhu will enter the second phase. In this phase, the Brain will become vulnerable to attacks and will aggressively attempt to ram the player while still teleporting around.

The Brain of Cthulhu has a 100% chance to drop 40-90 Crimtane Ore, 5-15 Lesser Healing Potions, and Dread Fang. It has a 14.29% chance to drop a Brain of Cthulhu Mask, a 10% chance to drop a Brain of Cthulhu Trophy, and a 5% chance to drop a Bone Rattle. The Brain of Cthulhu’s minions, Creepers, have a 66.67% chance to drop 2-5 Tissue Samples and 5-12 Crimtane Ore. They also have a 50% chance to drop a Heart.

The Brain of Cthulhu is the earliest Crimson-themed boss battle and it serves as the only way to obtain Tissue Samples. The Brain of Cthulhu also serves as an iconic early Terraria boss due to its interesting phase 2 design.
