She first garnered attention when videos of her freestyling became popular on social media platforms. Megan Thee Stallion signed to 300 Entertainment in 2018 where she released the mixtape Fever in 2019 and the EP Suga in 2020 both of which reached the top ten of the Billboard 200.
She released her debut studio album Good News in 2020 appearing on several year-end best album lists. Jorden Kyle Lanier Thorpe, born December 29, 1989, professionally known by his stage name Pardison Fontaine, is an American rapper and songwriter. Famed for his 2018 single "Backin' It Up" featuring Cardi B, was revealed to be dating Megan during a February 19 Instagram Live, on her profile.
His debut album Under8ed was released a year later. Apart from his solo career, Fontaine has credits as a co-writer in multiple hits with other artists, including the likes of Kanye West, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion. In 2021, Thorpe won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song for his contribution to the "Savage Remix". His work has received over a dozen Grammy nominations and two Grammy wins.
Fontaine and Stallion met in April 2020 and began to nurture a successful working partnership. On April 29, 2020, Megan Thee Stallion released a remix of her hit song “Savage” with Beyoncé as a feature, Fontaine had a songwriter credit on the track. On May 27, 2021, the couple makes their first in-person red-carpet debut at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. On June 11, 2021, Megan releases the single “Thot Shit” and the couple proves they know how to be playful with each other. Megan confirms on Twitter that the song's first verse features Fontaine’s voice in a voice mail. The two also attend the BET Awards together, later that month on June 27. On June 25 during an appearance on the Houston radio show 97.9 The Box, Megan expresses her love for Fontaine and how happy she is in the relationship, as well as her love for herself, saying, “First of all, he does make me happy, but my happiness comes from myself because I’m a happy lady. Henson’s Facebook Watch series, “Peace of Mind With Taraji”, revealing how her relationship contributes to her peace, saying “My boyfriend does make me very happy.
