Design and Performance

The Habanero in GTA V is a four-door SUV that is primarily based on the 2003-2008 Lexus RX (XU30), but it is slightly larger and sits lower to the ground. It features a wide open front bumper with a flat section on the center for the license plate, a silver chrome grille with numerous horizontal dividers, and large silver housings with black trimming for the main lamps and turning signals. The rear quarter window is straightened and gains a mesh pattern on the front bumper intake. The car is available in a variety of single-tone colors and has the same wheel design as the "Bippu" SUV wheels available in Los Santos Customs. The car's interior is the same as the "Feroci" interior used in other vehicles such as the Ingot and the Serrano.

The Habanero in GTA V has similar performance to its GTA IV counterpart, with slightly increased top speed and handling, but it is still outclassed by most AWD vehicles. The car's main focus is on stability and luxury, rather than performance, which results in below-average acceleration and braking, as well as a tendency to lift inside wheels during high-speed cornering. The ground clearance is minimal, making off-roading difficult and sliding and spin-outs common. The vehicle is powered by a modeled Turbocharged Inline-4 engine paired with a 5-speed gearbox in a front engine, all-wheel-drive configuration, and has a mid-revving engine sound with a supercharged whine.

Trivia

  • Some Habaneros can be seen in the TV show "Kung Fu Rainbow Lazerforce".

  • A Habanero is a type of chili, in fact, the name might be inspired by the Porsche Cayenne, also a crossover SUV, since it is also a type of chili pepper. The Rocoto and the Serrano, two other SUVs in the game, are also named after peppers.

  • Lowdown FM or Space 103.2 play when the player gets into a Habanero.
