The Tank Car in the Freight Train of GTA V is designed as a traditional tank car, featuring access ladders on both sides and walkways on top, a somewhat unconventional feature for North American tank cars, possibly inspired by older Canadian Wheat Board grain hoppers.
Interestingly, these tank cars lack apparent ports for loading or unloading chemicals. They are consistently colored in red/orange, which is essentially a texture overlay, with Streamlined and White Bolt logos. These tank cars can occasionally appear alongside wellcars but are never seen coupled with boxcars.
This vehicle cannot be modified.
The tanker car can be found randomly attached to the Freight Train.
During the mission Chop, one of the tank cars from the scripted train D hangs from to evade Franklin and Chop lacks access ladders. The same car will be seen again once the cutscene ends, before opening the static boxcars.
The first variant is a black car based on the standard North American DOT-111 tank car. This car can be found as a static object in train yards and sidings.
