It is surrounded by the Humane Labs and Research facility to the south, El Gordo Lighthouse and Catfish View to the northwest, Grapeseed to the west and is situated on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

The name could possibly be derived from Cape Cod, a peninsula to the southeast of mainland Massachusetts. Cape Catfish has a dirt road leading towards it and is a small settlement with a few houses and a dock. It is the smallest settlement in GTA V after Dignity Village. Fishing equipment can be seen lying around the area due to small-scale fishing taking place here. The area is very quiet and away from the roads or other settlements.

In the mission Monkey Business, Michael, Trevor and Franklin meet with Dave Norton and Steve Haines at Cape Catfish to go ahead with the Humane Labs and Research heist. Michael, Dave and Steve get into a Dinghy and move towards the bay where the lab is located to get in using the sewage exit.
