Josh is a real estate agent in Los Santos who lost his license due to the actions of his former partner. He was married and had two kids but he has since left her and has a second wife.

Josh Bernstein first appears in the Strangers and Freaks mission, Extra Commission, where he can be approached while playing as Trevor. He tells Trevor about himself and that he is a real estate agent whose license was taken away. He mentions that his rival Lenny Avery has many properties for sale in the city and he wants Trevor to go and take down his “For Sale” boards. He promises Trevor some “bouncy bouncy” with a girl if he completes the task.

After completing the task Trevor meets Josh at the Bilingsgate Motel where he tells him to proceed to room 9 where the girl is. Trevor comes back and is given another task to threaten Lenny Avery to make lesser sales. Trevor chases him down in Vinewood and successfully threatens him after which he is again rewarded in the same way, but this time Josh tells him that the lady is his wife and gives him one final task.

This time Trevor has to burn down the house in Rockford Hills where he met Josh Bernstein for the first time. He takes Josh’s car and uses the gas can in it to burn down the house. After this Trevor tries to meet Josh again to get paid but this time he sees Josh talking to the cops after which Josh calls Trevor a stalker and the police attack Trevor. Trevor can kill Josh and then has to escape the cops. Josh has to be killed for 100% mission completion.

Josh Bernstein appears to be a middle aged man in his thirties. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Due to his profession he dresses formally as he wears a black blazer over a white shirt, tucked into light brown formal trousers and a black belt. He wears black shoes to go with his outfit.
