Scouting The Port Mission In GTA 5

Scouting The Port is a storyline mission in GTA 5 played as Trevor Philips. This mission is unlocked after completing Fame Or Shame.

In this mission, Trevor arrives at Floyd’s apartment. He gives them stolen worker outfits and drives them to the Port of Los Santos. On the way, Trevor asks Floyd, who works there, about anything valuable that has entered the port and that can be stolen. Floyd reveals that the Merryweather men have had high security and have been guarding a freight ship docked at the port for a long time now. Trevor asks for Floyd’s help to get photos of the ship. They enter the port and Wade is called by a superior to help with a sewage leak. After this, there are a few things to be done by Trevor and Floyd.

A merryweather guard asks Trevor and Floyd to move two containers.
A port boss on the crane that Trevor climbs for photos asks him to load two shipping containers onto tractor trailers.
After loading the containers, Trevor has to take pictures of the ship following the instructions and send them to Ron.
Floyd takes Trevor to the warehouse in Los Santos Naval Port, which they go to in a trailer pretending to make a delivery. The Merryweather guards there start beating up Floyd, while at the same time, Trevor has to take the briefcase and leave the restricted area.

Trevor returns back to Floyd’s apartment and finds Wade there, covered in sewage. He writes down the plan of the heist on one of the walls in the apartment and has to select an approach.

If the Freight approach is selected, only the Minisub setup mission is unlocked. Trevor will also send a text message to Franklin, asking him to improve his aim at the Ammu-Nation Shooting Range. If the Offshore approach is chosen, then the Minisub and the Cargobob setup missions are unlocked. Trevor will also call Michael, asking him to improve his flying skill at the Flight School.

Mission Objective

Get in your truck.
Go to Pier 400.
Park next to dispatch.
Follow Floyd.
Get in the handler.
Move the marked containers to the loading area.
Set the container in the loading area.
Go to the crane.
Climb the crane to reach the cabin.
Load the containers onto the trucks.
Go to the vantage point at the end of the catwalk.
Use the camera phone to take photos of the boat.
Send the photos to Ron.
Descend the crane to the docks floor.
Get in the truck.
Drive to the docking area.
Leave the restricted area.
Go to Floyd's apartment.

Gold Medal Objective

Time - Complete within 20:00.
Employee of the Month - Complete without damaging the containers.
Perfect Surveillance - Snap all 3 photographs of the boat as instructed.
An Honest Day's Work - Complete without causing a disturbance at the docks.

Deaths and Destruction

The Merryweather guards at the warehouse beat up Floyd as Trevor sneaks out with the briefcase.

There are no rewards for this mission.

After Mission

After this mission, the preparation for the heist begins. One approach has to be chosen between the Freight approach and the Offshore approach. The approach chosen determines whether the mission Cargobob is unlocked or not. Minisub is a mission in both approaches of this heist.

Trivia

In the beta, the player originally had to move crates with a forklift racing Floyd, similar to the mission Robbing Uncle Sam from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
During the opening cutscene when Trevor is showing Floyd his penis, his genitals can briefly be seen when he takes off his pants and pulls them up later, making him the only protagonist in the series whose genitals can be seen briefly.
In the Japanese version of the game, Trevor does not expose himself to Floyd and instead makes a gesture.
After the mission ends, if the player approaches the bathroom in Floyd's house, they can hear Floyd giving Wade a bath.
If the player gets a wanted level after leaving the restricted area, the GPS point will disappear but the player can go to Floyd's house and complete the mission.
