Patrick McReary or “Packie” was born in Liberty City to Maureen McReary and an unnamed father. He has four siblings named Derrick, Francis, Gerald, and Kate. He had a tough time with his father who was an alcoholic. Due to this, he got into doing drugs and also got involved in crime at an early age. He was first arrested at the age of 18 for stealing a car.
Packie participated in many robberies with Niko Bellic in Liberty City with a crew, before coming to San Andreas at the end of the events of GTA IV.
Packie McReary can first be seen as part of a Random Event in the game. He, along with an accomplice can be seen robbing the Dollar Pills drug store in Strawberry. When the player finds him, he will request the player to help him find a car and escape. The player can decide whether to kill him or help him. However, his death is non-canon and killing him will make him unavailable for the heists in the game as a gunman.
If Packie is helped in the random event he can be used as a gunman in all heists with a cut of 12%. During the Paleto Score, he talks about his life of crime in Liberty City and mentions his biggest robbery.
The Jewel Store Job - If selected as a gunman for this heist, for either approach, Packie helps take the maximum score of the job by taking all the jewels in the cabinets.
The Paleto Score - If selected as a gunman for this heist, Packie survives the heist and provides great support against the police.
The Bureau Raid - If selected as a gunman for this heist, Packie survives the explosion during the escape in the covert approach. He also does a good job in the roof approach with no consequences.
The Big Score - If selected as a gunman for this heist, in the subtle approach he won’t drop any gold bars and in the obvious approach there will be no consequences in the heist.
Patrick McReary is seen dressed in a light brown jacket over a white t-shirt. He has fine hair and a well-built physique. He wears light gray-colored jeans and brown shoes. Packie mostly has a serious look on his face.

Packie dislikes playing darts, as he claims that it is "boring", despite darts being a traditional Irish game and Packie being proud of his Irish roots, as he states himself. However, he only voices his dislike if the player beats him.
If playing as Trevor, the player can take Packie and his friend to the Altruist Cult. If taken to the Altruist Cult, Packie will mention how he used to hate going bowling and playing darts in Liberty City, but admits he misses it after spending so much time in Los Santos. However, if doing so, Packie is lost as a potential heist crew member.
Packie seems to have an affinity for reality TV, which he mentions during mission dialogue in GTA IV and in dialogues during the Getaway Car encounter while driving up to the Altruist Cult as Trevor in GTA V.
His reappearance in 2019 (in GTA Online) clearly confirms all his possible deaths in GTA V to be non-canon.
